8.176km with 140m climb in 1:01:58. Bok training the Lodekka. A very wet night. Went and tried a new route the opposite way down to the river and back up some park bits by a stream which was overflowing the path at one point. At least it cleaned the shoes after the muddy collapsing into the river closed path we had been on earlier.

MTBO race 2:56:04 [2] 43.93 km (4:00 / km) +930m 3:37 / km
shoes: Exceed

43.933km with 930m climb in 2:56:00. 3 hour mtbo score odds and evens Redbrook. No way clearable.

Reds first loop east of river which I should of done the opposite way around for tarmac climbs and off road decents unlike my way 2 or 3 mins slower?.

Fairly obvious loop picking them all up west of river. 2 hours up close to blue 8 but kept going for last. Red 11 did not realise it was where bw met road and thought on bw so followed it with 2 bad turns could of just stuck to road lost 3 mins. Skiped 18 coming back receded to skip 4 at end which was the wrong call 4 mins early should of taken it and a few mins late for probably 10 more points.

Ended 2nd 9 points down. Need to be more aggressive with strategy.

GPS struggled a couple of times.

Orienteering race 57:17 [2] 7.61 km (7:31 / km) +224m 6:34 / km

7.613km with 224m climb in 1:05:32. WNL Sandford and Lyncombe woods. Clockwise so contouring the right way AMD leaving tricky ones till the end. Had to to back for 138 after missing it pow I think. Wrong road for 141 ended up by big fence and main road. Mot site how this happened I thought I checked the bearing at start. Teresa Collier me down here sorry. Turned wrong way on path for ,130. Realised on hitting style. Going to ne late from here amt it was a.painfull run back AMD up to the.finish.5 mins late.

Still good to do a night event hete. Have wanted a fixture for a number of heats. Too bad only 22 out. Pie in pub defeated me.

Note

Amazing service from the AA tonight.

Finished meal at the Nelson, Churchill after the Night Orienteering. Go to leave car-park and about to pull out onto the main road and realize I can not change gear.

About a minute of faffing, realizing I am stuck in 1st and I manage to loop back onto the triangle in the road outside the pub. Park safely so I can still pull off forwards if needed.

A minute to find the paperwork for the AA with the insurance stuff in the glove box.

A minute to go into the pub and get there postcode.

Ring the number, A minute listening to the safety talk.

A minute giving my details and location.

A minute after hanging up the patrol man rings up to confirm my location says he will be a minute.

Well actually it took about 2 minutes and he pulls up and asks me to open the bonnet.

A minute latter having found his light he shows me where the linkage has popped off.

2 more minutes and it's back on and cable tied into place and I have checked it's working. I am on my way with 2 spare cable ties in case it goes again on the way home.

Amazingly I am back on my way home in under 10 minutes after breaking down.
