MTBO race 2:58:08 [4] 42.44 km (4:12 / km) +858m 3:49 / km

42.439km with 858m climb in 2:58:08.
Slow 3 hour mtbo score reds and blues. Not too cold wore shorts but rain pending and it came. Not clear what to do first. Went for blues with a planed loop south and change up on the northern hill. A bit messy to 12 got overtaken up road by someone stopping a lot. Headed for 25 but made a right balls up 90 degrees out realised as I hit railway just along from the start. Changed plan and went north.22 23 31. Missed path on main road had to reverse back up other small path slow going to 21. An hour up already at top of hill. Thought about changing over to reds but worried about running out of them max would of been 360. Kept going 24 cut out of sunken lane as 5 horses coming down. Had to approach from top a bit beyond. 33 trouble finding 25 was on edge of open 20m north. All sorts not on map here and going to 32 26 27 2:05 Changed to red down to 33 chain off everything getting very grindy by now back up decided to do r27. 26, lost again heading for 23 lucky to find it.
340 points well off what I should be doing. Mark 400+ Ian 365.

Orienteering 1:05:32 [4] 8.7 km (7:32 / km) +200m 6:45 / km

Test running around Carewent. A mix of my 2 Blue variants plus a bit to the start. Forgot my compass but that was not an issue in the day but you would not want to be missing it in the dark.

Fairly good for the first half but started flagging on the second half. Features I was looking for all seamed good. 2 had mini permanent flags on them. Going in the open generally fast if you have legs, some wispy grass and not always that smooth but not as clingy as I feared. Not too much bracken and it's starting to die back but it still slowed me in a few spots for a small stretch. Some of the bigger banks were though and a bit slippery down in the none dobs shoes I was wearing because of the inevitable higher tarmac percentage. Quite a lot of the fences were not actually barbed wire which was good. The few I crossed there always seamed to be a wooden re-enforced crossing for the troops close to the line.

Running 50:29 [2] 5.72 km (8:50 / km) +302m 6:59 / km
ahr:0

5.720km with 302m climb in 0:50:29. Bok training first downs efforts session. Dead Goat gully. Sarah's fallen tree shortened the effort plus a speedy Frazer meant the shortest I have done. Just as well as the slowest I have been as well.

Scots Stryd data from when he was in range.

Came straight back ankle hurting by end.
