Walk & talk Monadnock with Peter S. Hazy, pleasant, calm day.

Orienteering 50:13 [3] 2.21 mi (22:43 / mi) +109m 19:42 / mi

Noted last night that Harris Center was so close to today's drive. Stopped there on way home to run Sunday's course from 2 weeks ago. Started around 4:30, no problems to speak of but it was a repeat so not too many expected. Stopped once on way to #5. Worked pretty hard, esp toward end when I wondered if I had a chance to break 50'. Noticed a bit more than last time - spotted a few really fabulous boulders that need revisiting, photographing, even worshipping..... A productive day in the PE sense.

Peterborough, Jaffrey, Hancock, Stoddard areas are just plain bloody beautiful, esp now. Frost on fields in low sun and ever so calm waters this morning were particularly nice

Trail/woods running 1:13:43 [2] 3.79 mi (19:27 / mi) +82m 18:14 / mi

From S. Bow kiosk, got a one way ride from Beth. Marvelous time of day, was plesaantly warm & the subdued light allowed colors to shine on their own. Something to smile about after some hectic weekend moments, plumbing solutions, roof staining etc. Two movies, too: one til midnight Saturday night & this eve 6-8p in town.

Weightexercise workout 35:00 [1]

Went to the Y - first time since 9/8. A lot to do and lumbago got in the way.
I like Sat around 5p as most everything is at 'pause'.

Trail/woods running 30:00 [3] 2.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Sprints in Evans Cemetery. Went to BHS but the place was full of Friday activity. The cemetery is next door &, being higher up, had more sun. It was a windy, chilly NW day. Ran around there, paying more attention to the gravestones over time. One young fellow died at 20, couldn't tell if it was something like soldiering, seemed that it was though. Another stone was for a 6 y/o and it had a life-sized photograph of a smiling young face on its surface - interesting technique. Oldest stone I saw was d. 1825. Colorful place, including the pink teddy bear at the youngster's grave. Who doesn't like cemeteries....

Road/trail 31:07 [1] 1.72 mi (18:05 / mi) +40m 16:52 / mi

BHS on way home from work. Felt decrepit today so resorted to walking with some exercises thrown in. It was 64F around 3p - saw a fellow running on South St. w/o a shirt - which I thought a bit extreme esp since he was well over 50. Some mild nagging right hamstring stuff that clears up after time.

Lots of HS kids about. Half the football team seemed to be coming to practice from the backs of their cars in adjacent parking. Had me wondering if they might go directly home after practice, do their uniform laundry etc. 52 years ago, in another era, I was pretty much one of them.
