Lovely round the seat and meadows, weird but nice still spring evening in Edinburgh. Legs couldn't have felt better, floating along and ready to race again by the end.

JK Relay
Great stuff, good work from Seb and Jonny put me out in second very comfortably. Attacked at a hard intensity out of a small chance that Kris would blow it or that my gap behind was smaller than I thought, but generally felt very chilled and orienteered pretty well as a result while really enjoying myself. Legs somehow reincarnated from yesterday and felt better than ever in terrain, certainly wasn't complaining.
Began to fade towards the end and fumbled around a little bit, so was happy to eventually cruise into the finish with no sprint needed. Time much better than it felt compared to those seriously racing so pleasantly surprised, but considering most of the field had a HM in their legs maybe this was to be expected. Great stuff from EUOC today, 3 in top 7 and silver in women's - should be filling out both podiums in a few years....

JK Long
Chilled off the start to test the legs. They were dead, but pushed on and had some good splits in the first few. Small miss to 6, struggling to understand what I was looking for but this kicked the legs into motion for the next few. Ultimately began to tire climbing the hill to the timeout leg and was slightly lucky in finding controls, before sprinting and chilling for a minute.
Took a gel that I had kept down my sock (pockets were ripped) and then spotted a wild Arri waiting about. Chased him down to 13 and then swapped the lead for a bit. A little bit scrappy in the green but being clean on a 1:15 in there was always going to be a challenge. Paced away through spectator feeling quite tired but up for some more fun in the green. Took average routes and began to drop the pace, and slipped up on 25 (mind far into the red zone), but a solid finish meant Kasper's time was pipped quite nicely. This was my main goal today so happy to execute it on a quite sore pair of legs, and limited energy - think the lack of taper is catching up now.
Great feeling rounding off a very near perfect individual JK, and last year junior too. Been a while since things have gone so well over easter for me, usually the middle that flops but last year it was the long.
Knee muscle from yesterday still sore but should be okay to get round tomorrow. A lot of strong teams entered, including 4 dangerous EUOC men's teams, + a very strong women's team, as well as some fast and furious memories of the area (JK 2008 ft. Paddy Ryan) should make for a fun day.

Nice one with Trim, then on the model map and some drills. Timed things poorly so did a bit longer and had to wait around a little bit.

JK Middle

Another good race in the bag. Everything clicked from the final beep and the focus, flow, terrain speed and execution was all there [just about] throughout the teeny middle course. One small miss when planning ahead and running past a ditch, and aside from a few other meerkatting instances, very clean, quick and happy. Really hit the wall at the end from red zoning essentially the whole way round so was happy to cruise down the hill for the last few controls.

Hayfever now contained with antihistamines but today's daily worry involves a pulled muscle on the side of my knee from a mixture of tight calves and probably overstriding down the hill to the finish today. Manageable to run on at the moment but not very comfortable when stationary. Hopefully a light stretch and good sleep will sort it.

A little bit rushed and trying to prove my legs were feeling good. Decided to change shoes once I noticed how slippery flats felt on grass.

JK Sprint

Good stuff, nervous and reluctant to run in the start box but fine once I got going. Although I have been veggie for a few months now, I was hungry for Chicken today, and once I glimpsed him on the way to 8 it got to my head. Long way round a building, and then again to 10, losing 15-20s. This kicked the engine into life and a good comeback followed. Eventually caught the poultry, overtook, and cruised into the finish feeling pretty spent. It's been a good run of JK sprints at junior level, happy to finish on a high.

Chest seems to have picked up on the pollen south of the border in accordance with the annual JK sprint dusty chest feeling. Hopefully will be okay for the rest of the races, all niggles in legs have disappeared too so no more excuses.

Took a few minutes to shake out gym but feeling good by the end, with some little accelerations. Foot pain has almost completely subsided, had a few days worrying it was some bad trauma to the bone from stomping down Clachnaben but seems unlikely now.

Lovely in the afternoon sun. Legs quite tired but not as bad as expected, nice springtime 'burgh scenery definitely took my mind off them anyway. Garmin cut off on the home straight.
Can't believe it's only 9 days until JK!
