Note

Went to a wedding this weekend in Philly with a quick trip up to Jenkintown to show Summer the old haunts. Amazing how much our perspective can change of the places we grew up with a more traveled and adult perspective.

Jenkintown was (is) an excellent community to grow up in. I had independent mobility since I could pop out of the house and walk anywhere with my friends. There are buses. There are trains you can catch to all over the Philly region. There's a great school with enthusiastic teachers.

But I would go crazy if I tried living there now. These days I need more access to adventure than I can get in a bubble outside of a big city.

The changing seasons of life.

The break from training ends tomorrow. I've got a plan. I've got support. I've got passion. Let's do it.

Finally got a VO2 test after trying to schedule one for a year. But everything fell apart in the test.

The HR monitor ended up not working. So no HR data, which was most of the reason for doing it.

Then once the speed and incline finally got to a kinda difficult level, the woman running the test started to stop the treadmill. I told her to keep it going and she increased the incline and speed slightly for a minute and then told me I had a maxed out even though I was telling her that I was still good.

So basically no meaningful data to show for it.

I guess I'll just find a test I can do on my own then.

Took the bus up so I could work on the bus, and then biked up from the bus stop.

Almost got destroyed while I was putting on my helmet on the sidewalk by a driver who didn't want to wait in line at the red light and cut through the gas station to go right. So we're not safe on the sidewalk either.

Note

I had two calls recently with an enthusiastic and ambitious crew about a project that will create a lot of value in US orienteering. And we are very excited about it.
