Botched #2. After that I just focused on trying to feel the flow and get back into racing. Felt good to run fast.

Note

A rough night, but I'm already starting to feel better. And the timing was perfect. If there's a place to be when you feel like crap, wrapped up in your bed is probably it.

I think I did have a fever last night, as well as some very restless legs.

Really the worst part was that my shoulder hurt so much it kept me from sleeping. So some naps today will help.

Note

Got the 2nd dose at 10:21am.

Fortunately I'm a freelancer. So I never get sick and have to call out of work. That should keep me safe from any side effects.

Note

I passed the first of three exams to be a certified court interpreter! Made it past the 10% pass rate!

Really grateful to take another (big) step forward in this process.

Running 35:00 intensity: (3 @1) + (3:34 @2) + (24:34 @3) + (6:32 @4) + (17 @5) 7.05 km (4:58 / km) +87m 4:41 / km

5x20/40s around the lake. Legs felt heavy, but it's probably largely due to a lot of sitting and working at a computer today.

My body really liked the high volume training and seems to be getting extra stiff with lower volume.

Second Pfizer dose tomorrow. It's not ideal timing, but getting COVID could maybe potentially perhaps have more of an impact on TT then the vaccine.

So I'll take the vaccine.

The Winter Series Course on Surebridge, Red.

Lots of climb and good terrain to fight through.

Very fun overall and my Achilles felt great. It was different to get back to navigating with flags in the woods, but in many ways it felt much easier than O-range since I could see them from 20-50m away. With O-range I usually have to be almost exactly at the point before the GPS will pick up on it.

For the past few weeks I've been building a habit of saying my entire route out loud to myself before I leave each point. One of my bad habits that has just gotten more developed over the years is running without a plan. Running straight is a great option too, but you need to plan what you'll be using to keep you going straight.

There was one control where I skipped my out-loud plan: #12. And that's where the biggest mistake of the day came. Because I just threw myself across the stream and into the green. And it went about as well as you can expect when you throw yourself into dense green without a plan--not well.

I had gotten distracted when I ran through the deep swamp and had the jump over all the fallen hemlock branches before 11. So I was feeling a bit rushed and cut that corner. But it's good to nail down what caused a problem and what to do about it.

Sin prisa pero sin pausa. Execute each leg quickly but without rushing.

Was planning a technical session today, but it added an extra hour of driving and I wanted to avoid that for now. So 5x20/40s in Nay Aug
