Note

Semi-joke, semi-serious.

I have dozens of maps with high-density Lidar and high-quality aerial imagery. Hunting season is a good time for me to work on those maps in OCAD, trying to add as many details as possible. But I'm seriously overwhelmed.

Could anyone help me improve these maps? All it takes is adding features in OCAD or OOM.

Why do this? It'll help me train. It'll help Peter train, who I presume will be sleeping on my floor at some point. It can be used to develop the sport in a region with lots of potential but little activity. You get practice with the software. And if there's ever a competition here, there actually could be some money available!

Until then I'll just keep clicking away here.

Running 2:25:01 [3] 22.81 km (6:21 / km) +815m 5:24 / km

A bit longer than I wanted because I have yet to find the trails that in theory exist on the little tract of land northwest of Montage.

Beautiful, slow going in the snow. Lots of hunters out. But how much of a connection is there to nature when there are twenty of them standing along a road firing into the woods?

Running 50:00 intensity: (30:00 @3) + (20:00 @4) 12.0 km (4:10 / km)

Fast-finish tempo on the treadmill at the gym.

15' at 5:10/k, 20' tempo (15' at 3:41, 4' at 3:38, 1' at 3:30) 15' at 5:10 all on a 1% incline

Just a short tempo to get back into. Really fun to get my legs moving faster again with the past weeks filled with snow and ice.

Followed it up with 15' in the sauna.

The treadmill is not a fun form of training, but it's a great way to isolate the discomfort that comes with running fast. You can get to know it, make friends with it, see that it's not going to kill you.

Also good to see that the treadmills here go up to 2:53'/k. That'll come in handy later on.

Which is scarier?

The bear that ran off when it saw me

Or

The "hunter" standing in the middle of the forest at night with no light who didn't react at all when I said hello

I can't decide

Note

It's always so much easier to understand things visually than just when you read about them. Big pictures and lots of colors.
