Was lucky enough to get out for a bit of Olivia orienteering in beautiful CT forest.

Quads felt destroyed from the bodyweight training, but at the same time I also felt significantly stronger than normal. So it looks like this type of strength training is having the desired effect.

Not many mistakes out there. I lost the trail on the way to 5. And fumbled a bit before taking a bearing and just going. I also underran 11 because the reentrant before it was larger than what I was expecting.

Overall, pretty happy with my return to Pond Mountain 2 years after my disastrous selection races.

Checking out the red dot trail on Mount Tammany. Pretty steep and technical. Reminded me a lot of the trail runs in Madrid... except it didn't take nearly as long to run up.

Still, a really good workout. I could see this being a regular thing.

Core O'Clock 46:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (36:00 @4)

This app has found a way to beat the crap out of me.

10 x (30 climbers, 10 pushups, 30 situps, 30 squats, 50 jumping jacks, 30 second rest).

Not particularly hard to start, but I was really hurting towards the end.

The plan is to keep doing this three days a week until January and then switch to twice a week to maintain the strength I'll have gained but not tire myself out for other workouts.

Well, look at that... A complete lack of flop at the finish after setting a world record

Hidden Lakes North. Lots of downed trees around the swamps. That area is not particularly useful. But there are loads of other beautiful areas.

Mount Minsi. I'd say about 80% of this map is very runnable forest. Unfortunately I got stuck in a bit that was not runnable while looking for a trail that didn't exist. Can't trust OpenStreetMap trails completely.

This is a spectacular area, perhaps a bit rocky footing in some sections, but overall it's really nice. It bears noting that finding runnable forest in Pennsylvania in summer conditions is cause for celebration.

I need to put more details onto the map though. It felt like I was flying blind with only contours in an area like this with sweeping hillsides.
