McKaig Nature Center. Short 1 course - 2.1k, 80m. 1:5000 map. Mostly open woods, hilly. Mostly sunny, mid-60s. Several small errors, which are actually medium-sized for a short course like this. AP didn't catch my error at 6, which was about 45 sec.

Orienteering 27:45 intensity: (1:51 @1) + (5:43 @2) + (8:10 @3) + (10:47 @4) + (1:14 @5) *** 2.96 km (9:22 / km) +89m 8:09 / km

McKaig. Short 2 course - 2.4k, 85m. The course had one section with 7 closely spaced controls with lots of direction change - all in very open woods. Cleaner run on this course than the first one.

After running, we bumped into a high school classmate who had come to the park to hike with a friend, so spent some time chatting and catching up.

Checking sites at Thomas Iron Site in Hellertown for Short course event in July (which I won't actually be at because of NAOC but I offered to design courses). This is a quite interesting area with remnants of an iron making facility, mostly slag piles and some ruins. The vegetation is thick in places at this time of year but there is a complex trail network which combined with the contour detail will hopefully make interesting courses. Ran/jogged the longer course (of two) with lots of stopping to verify or change locations and/or to note map updates needed. Low 70s and a bit humid. Wore shorts, which kept me (mostly) from cutting through the woods or from siting controls in gnarly stuff.

Orienteering 27:27 intensity: (5:28 @1) + (6:29 @2) + (12:01 @3) + (1:45 @4) + (1:44 @5) *** 2.51 km (10:56 / km)
ahr:127 max:173 shoes: NB Hierro v6 GTX

The shorter of the two courses, which is somewhat simpler navigationally (Yellow course vs. Advanced level sprint course). Made fewer extended site checking stops.

Trail Run 1:12 intensity: (26 @1) + (46 @2) ** 0.09 mi (13:19 / mi)
ahr:111 max:124 shoes: NB Hierro v6 GTX

Ran right by the last control on the short course, so headed back out just to verify that the appropriate feature was actually there.

Nockamixon trails with the new bike. Did all the trails, all counterclockwise except Haycock (which I did clockwise so I was heading downhill for the bumps and turns). Had the lowest level of assist on most of the time - the ups are easier but there's still plenty of work involved. Moving faster than with the older bike. Mid 80s but not humid.

Been battling a cold since Monday.

Bike-Paved (E-bike) 54:59 intensity: (5 @0) + (27:36 @1) + (26:56 @2) + (22 @3) 9.77 mi (5:38 / mi) +303m 5:08 / mi

Shake-down ride with a new toy, an eMTB. Did some hills of various lengths and steepness to get a feel for the extra oomph. There's the option to ride with no assist, so still plenty of opportunity to get the heart rate up. Plan is to head out on actual trails tomorrow.
