Red course at Hibernia. 5.7k, 132m. Overcast, woods wet from earlier rain, low 60s.
Well that sucked. Couldn't seem to follow a bearing in the green. Then apparently I didn't check a control code and punched 35 instead of 37 - the two were about 60m apart, the east edge of a small marsh vs. a cup depression. I was trying to read the light vs. middle green for navigation, which worked great last weekend but does not work at all for Hibernia (and here there's a lot more sharp stuff in the medium green). One particularly irritating control was #5 which was shown along a small trail which appeared on the map but not in the terrain. Said trail also would have been a great exit from the control to get through medium green, so I battled a bit to get out. Did a bit better on the second half of the course, taking trail routes as much as possible and only going through the woods to actually get to the control.
