New England Champs at Willard Brook SF, Day 2, Brown X. 3.9k, 120m. Another fine course by J-J. Very little rock today but a really fun area of detailed glacial terrain, made extra challenging by the overlaid patchwork of green.
Good run today. Lost time on 4 due to some hesitation mid-leg and climbing the adjacent hill before heading into the saddle where the flag was. AP doesn't pick it up but I lost about 30 seconds with a sub-optimal route to the last control. Good enough for 1st overall on Brown X for the day. Tony had a big error on one control so I ended up 1st in M65 for the two-day total. Prizes were consumables (hard cider, apple cider donuts, or maple syrup).
Thanks to the whole NEOC team (and volunteers from other clubs) for producing a fine event.

New England Champs at Willard Brook SF, Day 1, Brown X. 4.1k, 135m. A very fine course by J-J on an excellent map by Jon Campbell. Lots of light and medium green and some areas with intense rock detail. Moderate trail network, with some twisty mountain bike trails. Light green was quite runnable as were the areas of white.
An OK run with two minute errors on two controls (6 and 7) plus a couple 30 second losses (4 and 10). Went to an adjacent open hilltop at 6; stopped short and checked out a much smaller ridge on the way to 7. At 4 I chose to bash through more mountain laurel than I needed to. Ended up 3rd on Brown X, about 3 minutes behind Peggy and 2 min behind Tony. 2nd in M65 for the day.

On roads from home with a few bits on gravel trail. Wanted to get some circulation going in the legs. Legs are still a bit tired but recovering. Left foot still sore. Upper 60s, sunny. Some breeze so there were a couple of stretches into the wind.
