US Masters Champs Day 2 at Gunstock. Brown X (3.1k, 150m). First part was in the XC trails area, second part in the downhill area. Mostly cloudy and upper 40s, so good running weather. Warmed up and sunnier later.

Very good run with a few small errors. Went straightish through the woods to 2, which apparently was slower than trails around. Trail right of the line to 3. Trails to 4, attacking off the reentrant/trail bend east of the control and then past the other trail bend but got a little too high on the hill and corrrected when I got into the light green (~30 sec). Through the woods to 5 but knew I was too far right as I crossed the wall and corrected when I started seeing the rock up by the ski trail. Following the downhill ski trails all the way to 6 - a bit of up and down but a safe route. Dropped along the line out of 6, into the woods and down the trail to the stream, then out onto the ski trail and to the flag. Across the ski slope to 8 but didn’t see the bag in the tall grass and hooked around (1:20 lost - would’ve been helpful if the circle and line were cut where the lift tower is). Down the hill and in.

Third overall on Brown X, a minute behind Jeff and 12 seconds back of Peggy. First in M65 and made up about 3 minutes on Steve but not enough to catch him for the two-day total time.

Thanks to the UNO crew for an excellent event.

US Masters Champs Day 1 at Gunstock Ski Resort. Brown-X (3.3k, 95m). Spectacular day - sunny and in the 50s. Less than spectacular run with a big error on #4 (8 min) and a smaller error on #6 (2 min). AP says I also lost 30 seconds on the first control. On both 4 and 6 I lost track of my elevation crossing the ski hill and climbed up to correct when I needed to just continue for 4 and drop for 6. 2nd in M65 and 6th overall on Brown-X.

Wandering around on the French Creek North map, primarily looking for where not to send people. Also found some charcoal platforms.

Nockamixon SP MTB trails. Haycock twice (which appears to have grown some new bumps), Eastern Woods, Jaywalk (counterclockwise), back on Eastern Woods (along the lake), Coldspot and Hammer clockwise then a loop of Coldspot ccw. Trails in excellent shape. Cloudy and low 60s with rain starting about 15 minutes after I finished. Wildlife spottings: red fox, great blue heron, ring-necked pheasant.

Middle Valley Run Natural Area in northern Delaware. Saw this area on the map as we were driving by, drove in to check it out and ended up taking a nice walk through the woods (partly to procrastinate the rest of the drive home and take advantage of a very nice day weather wise). Nice mature forest with a good trail network, but quite a bit of scratchy undergrowth.
