Orienteering race 1:47:35 [4] *** 9.99 km (10:46 / km) +345m 9:11 / km
spiked:8/12c shoes: Jalas - sz 10

Day 1 of US 2-Day Classic Champs on Little Truckee Summit map.

Found all of the controls in order, any injuries are minor and it was a nice day to be out in the woods. FR track tells the story.

6.2k straight line distance. Climb advertised as 130m, I counted about 210m for an optimum route and actually did significantly more.

Orienteering race 16:38 [4] *** 2.27 km (7:19 / km) +19m 7:02 / km
spiked:16/17c shoes: NB 1210 "Leadville"

Sprint at Northstar Resort near Truckee, CA, a prelude to the US 2-Day Classic Champs. A mix of forest (with ski and mtb trails) and urban (in the village at Northstar). Sunny, dry and low 70's with low oxygen.

Had a decent run, losing 20-25 seconds on the 3rd control but hitting the rest OK. Several hesitations to be sure I knew what I was doing and felt the lack of oxygen on the uphill final control and finish run-in. Second M60 (48 sec behind Rick, 2 sec ahead of Soupbone) and about 10th or so on Green (behind mostly M50s and F20s). Phil was one second faster, but he took a shortcut.

Hiking 2:00:00 [1] 6.0 km (20:00 / km)

In Lassen NP from the Visitors Center to Mill Creek Falls. At ~6700ft elevation, so no snow on the ground (snow was at ~7000 ft and above, from the day before). Mostly sunny with temps in the upper 40s - quite nice.

Strength and Flexibility (Yoga) 50:00 [2]

Class was more yoga than pilates, but I'm OK with that (substitute instructor, more permanent replacement still TBD). Apparently down dog is a "rest position" - still waiting for that experience.
