Orienteering race 24:01 [5] *** 3.66 km (6:34 / km) +34m 6:16 / km
spiked:21/23c shoes: Scarpa Spark Trail Shoes

Sprint on Indiana University campus - 1st day of Flying Pig. OK run except for one control. On control 14 got confused and thought I was on the line from 12 - 13. Lost almost 2.5 minutes trying to figure it out. A few other small misses and hesitations. Out of the money since 2.5 minutes is a huge mistake in a sprint.

Course was long for a sprint, probably by 3 - 6 minutes. A few longer legs and fewer controls may have made a good course even better. Straight line distance 2.7 km.

Perfect day weatherwise, low 60's and sunny.

At Moreau today to finish up a few details. More snow up on the plateau than at Wakpominee, 3-6" with about 90% coverage. More work than without snow. Quite a nice day, sunny and approaching 50F.

Everything is now streamered except for a few obvious White course controls. And unless the vetter has issues, courses are done. If you like technical terrain, do not miss this event.

Hiking 21:34 [2] 1.53 km (14:07 / km) +142m 9:38 / km

Hike from the bus drop-off to start location. Most of the trail was covered with an inch or two of well-settled snow.
