Orienteering race 18:24 [5] *** 1.93 km (9:32 / km) +55m 8:21 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons

HVO Sprint 35a. Small errors on the first two controls, then mostly clean. More than half of the controls in the woods, though this course was the least technical of the three. 14 controls.

Orienteering race 27:45 [4] *** 2.18 km (12:44 / km) +65m 11:05 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons

HVO Sprint 45. Several relatively small errors - probably about 3 min total. Two very technical areas where I slowed to way below "sprint" speed and kept the mistakes to a minimum. 18 controls.

Orienteering race 19:56 [5] **** 1.74 km (11:27 / km) +65m 9:39 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons

HVO Sprint 35b. A technical and physical course. All controls were on rock features except the two on dot knolls (and the GO control - which was a bare rock spur). About 2.5 minutes of errors spread among 5 different controls. 12 controls total. Weather for all three sprints was good - overcast, humid, 70-ish with the sun coming out later for the picnic.

Trail Run 43:00 [3] 4.3 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: NB 804 - Size 9.5

Kennedy Park, Lenox MA. Real nice day for a run in the woods - low 70's with some breeze. Ran some of the less gnarly trails (i.e. the wider, less steep trails) and managed to get to the highest point in the park without any wind-sucking climbs. I find I tend to push more when running trails ('cause it's lots more fun than roads) so it's hard to do an "easy" pace. This place would make a fun O-map - some very open woods and a quite complex trail network - courses would have to have lots of short legs (sprint or middle distances).
