Warm-up to start and around a bit (largely to avoid the midges...). Legs feeling OK but breathing poor despite inhaler.

Scottish Champs, Creag Mhic. Struggling physically at start (as usual - never can get enough warm-up). But settled in to dreamy terrain and aiming to pick as near perfect lines as possible. Pleased with results - controls often popped out directly in front of me, not even 10* to the side :-). Gradually got into the running and felt was going OK except for walking almost all the hills. A couple of almost wobbles in last plantation loop but held things together. Pleased to be leading at finish - and to break 10 mins/km!
Later saw RL warming up and was impressed at how speedy and athletic he looked, and so it proved - he did almost 4 mins quicker...
Happy - great area, lovely day and consistent solid performance, beaten by the better man.
