Raebush - Culblean Hill, MTB descent to Cambus and back. Long steady grind up the hill then relaxed descent. A bit of a grind up past top of Burn O'Vat and legs struggling a bit by end. Lovely day out and the forest above Cambus is wonderful - all gnarled old pine trees and bits of gnarly granite outcrops.
Morrone birch wood small path loop (out north, back south). 2 x 6x1+1. Aiming for quick legs and mostly managed it, though cadence probably dropped a bit on last couple. Nice loop and felt fairly strong. Pleased to have done it. Then jogged to wee high point to watch E run the Braemar hill race. he got 3rd (just behind a kilted Cosmic). JW won easily but messed up descent big time!

Decent warm-up and then a big of jog after to watch hill race then jog back down (lots of encouragement from walkers - had to explain I wasn't doing race - would have felt like a fraud :-)
Note
Chopping logs - about 60 mins morning and afternoon. Hot and sweaty!
Taping controls, Started with a few in a tough section, then into much more runnable forest. Lots of water around, hope it dries up a bit by September!
Taping control sites at Glen Tanar (for SOL & SHI). Tough going, but the blaeberries are phenomenal, no need to carry energy bars, just grab a few handfuls of the berries :-)
Torphins, North Footie, up farm track and through fields/woods to Dess Woods. Loads of cattle - at least 3 big herds, all happy and no scares :-) Feeling OK once warmed up but lungs definitely limiting factor.
Got dropped in Aboyne - low road - Bellwood - Old Deeside road and back via Deeside way. Nice steady pace and legs feeling good, breathing no so good. Warm and very humid - sweating buckets !
