steady run 52:00 [3]

Ben Newe with S and 3 of the Maroc TS
Felt terrible at start - uphill and no power. Gradually got going and felt OK Lovely weather and nice layer of snow in places. Forest getting gradually felled...

Note

Rest day - right big toe very sore and stiff (never been hte same after breaking it in early 90's).
Need a rest anyway before training over next 3 days.

Physio exercises 6:00 [1]

Standing one-legged bent knee free leg bent at right angles at knee swinging forward and back, with elastic band tensioning planted leg to activate glutes on standing side.
Details to satisfy the pedants amongst you

yes, you Kitch ;-)

Wobbling all over the place - either a day off is bad for me or very needed...

steady run hills 3:00:00 [3]

With S, up from Tullich, track a stream of water and slush, so cold wet very quickly :-( Then onto south slope of Morven and started plodding in snow - 6" to start but more like knee deep near top. Seemed to go on for ever but eventually reached the summit - recognised the cairn at about 20m...
Bloody mountain hares- hundreds of tracks - all seemed to be going straight up the hill with 2m strides... just showing off I reckon.
Bailed off down east spur (usual Groddie route) - even some foot prints to follow! then turned south and west along the bigger tracks ad back down the Crannach glen, less slush, more water!
Legs stuffed by end but no real problems with left calf - felt it a few times on climb, 1/10 or 2/10 mostly when walking rather than running - maybe different pushing/angle.
Day off tomorrow to recover before Maroc Talent squad training Sunday - Tuesday...

Note

no physio exercises today - legs feeling pretty wasted after run - but in a good way :-)

Physio exercises 6:00 [1]

standing

Intervals hills 10:00 [5]

Had planned cycle intervals but snow on ground so avoid the risk of ice, water, snow.
2 x Dess Hills from bridge to top of Deeside Way, 4-55 & 4-52. Pretty terrible time but got it done.
Left calf fine on first and felt a twinge 1-2/10 at about 3-30 on second but it went away.
Small start but need to do something to raise heart rate.
Legs maybe a bit tired from past 2 days in terrain, certainly felt fairly sluggish.

steady run warm up/down 24:00 [3]

14 w/u, 5 between intervals and 5 after.

Physio exercises 17:00 [1]

Standing, lying plus 5 mins of 2-legged squats

Physio exercises 6:00 [1]

Standing - felt good & strong

pace run 42:00 [4]

Terrain loop from Dinnet Rangers car park towards Burn O'Vat car park. Mostly good running, a bit of heather and a few patches of bracken. Trying to push up hills without getting calf into over-stress. Succeeded, a twinge or two near end at level1/10 but apart from that OK.

Note

left leg feeling slightly achey this evening so probably a good length of session :-)

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

great session, lots of good glute work, lovin' it :-)

steady run 30:00 [3]

Aboyne Ac running club, out to Aboyne Castle, gold road, Low road and back across green. Various short surges and sprints. Calf - mostly fine, flat just a tiny bit on Low Road on hard tarmac, but tightness disappeared and fine after.
