steady run warm up/down 10:00 [3]

Jog to start and a few drills.

orienteering race 1:12:00 [5]

Local event Shooting Greens, brown course, 7.2km. Good line to first control - avoiding windblown - but a bit hesitant at nos1&2 then missed 6 - too high and overshot, probably 1 min lost. 10 - very hesitant on way along leg - new felled threw me more than it should have, probably lost 45 secs.
13 overshot (too high on hill) - realised fairly quickly, 1 min lost. 20 - punched control but code wrong (217 - 127) did a treble take and then checked loose descriptions against map descriptions - same, onto top of knoll to check then decided I was right and headed off - lost about 30 seconds...
Overall struggling on hills - legs tired (8 days running in a row) and also physio exercises are tiring specific muscles - need to avoid them the 2-3 days ahead of important races.
Not helped today by TG playing leapfrog with me several times (though it was quite amusing as he was running so much quicker than I was!)

Tired legs

steady run 35:00 [3]

Dess Wood lap, feeling tired. Improved as run went on - had spent 2 hours cutting and barrowing wood.

steady run 1:00:00 [3]

With S, Aboyne bridge, Fungle, Guard, mast hill then back down MTB track - seen small parts before but this was first for whole length - lovely running and magic forest (my favourite bit of GT). Then through woods between South Deeside Road and river. Feeling pretty terrible at start - legs really heavy - think yesterdays drills had an effect!

running drills 10:00 [2]

Short set of drills - didn't fancy plodding in wet snow.

steady run 34:00 [3]

Headtorch run, Deeside Way to east, down to river bank, back up Deeside Way and loop out to waterfall and back. Feeling a bit of a sharp tweak in R groin - maybe brought on by drills? Took it easy at start and it settled down.

steady run 28:00 [3]

Couldn't face night-O after a long drive home from Oban (blizzard most the way). Went for a wee trot round Dess Wood with S. Feeling very tired and heavy legged.

orienteering 50:00 [4]

Control collecting plus some other controls from last years Scotjos training at Airds Park. Forest great and map still OK, but wet, wet, wet - not sure I’ve ever experienced a more waterlogged forest... Enjoyable in a strange way!
Not tempted to do anymore training later.

steady run 25:00 [3]

Up to mast and back after session

orienteering 57:00 [4]

Training on Arisaig, line then control pick, dropped to joint E after start of cp cos black storm cloud came in and I wasn’t sure he had enough kit. Lovely area but a bit hill and sloppy with 10cm snow. Great views to Rhum and other isles.
