steady run warm up/down 25:00 [3]

All warm-up (too drained for w-d). Legs feeling a bit achey and tired but got going.

orienteering race 1:00:00 [5]

VHI individual, M55, 2nd to QH (+95 seconds). Steady start, forest felt much tougher than yesterday and at 10k rather than 7.5k first leg felt a long way. Pleased to catch my English 4 minute man there ;-) Pushed through next few and dropped him between 5 & 6. Then long leg across open to detailed slope, started to feel tired legs, kept pushing and only a couple of minor hesitations. Really struggling near end but helped by BS on run-in.
Happy with run - hard to see 96 seconds of errors without adding every tiny hesitation.
Weekend very positive for fitness and also for running properly. Still think I'll struggle for flat leg speed, but one step at a time.

Note

Checked splits - was leading at 12 then lost time on most legs - when I was tiring. So pleased at leading QH but there's some work to do to improve aerobic fitness/endurance.

stretching 15:00 [1]

Right quads a bit tight but overall legs not too damaged.

steady run warm up/down 25:00 [3]

Before and after VHI relays. Started warm-up and leg felt positively good! Not suer whether it is much better or whether adrenalin and caffeine helped but happy enough.

orienteering race 24:00 [5]

VHI relays, 1st leg long relay... but my leg wasn't long - 3.2km, ya beauty :-)
Set off at start and was at front - a feeling I've not had for a loooong time. Settled in and then JT appeared behind me, we compared a few codes and they were that same, ran together, saw Adrian P approaching 2 then no-one else. Kept pace steady and worked hard, one small hesitation near end, turned left, right then back left, control just tucked away in re-entrant rather then in bottom of depression (realise description was re-entrant - duh). Finished first and JT second, over 2 mins clear of DP. team won (thanks KBJ
and DG).
Pleased with run and even more pleased with lack of discomfort and pain from right hip/leg.

running drills 15:00 [2]

Set of drills and exercises. Right leg mostly pretty good apart from accelerations - still a bit of awkwardness there.

orienteering 30:00 [2]

Hanging and collecting controls from after-school club (plus a trot up the Deeside Way to home - dropped off as S went to pick up E from tennis in Trophies (there until Aboyne court refurbishment finished).
Right leg not 100% but never too bad - probably short enough spells of running between controls.

Note

5 hours surveying, legs tired by end, lots of hills.

Intervals 12:00 [5]

Railway intervals, 6x2+1 with S. Right adductor feeling weak and a bit tweaky.

steady run warm up/down 31:00 [3]

Down Deeside Way and back

stretching 15:00 [1]

Right thigh up at hamstring insertion definitely sore plus in groin a bit. Seeing massage therapist next Tuesday - hopefully she might work out the problem, otherwise maybe back to the physio.
