orienteering 27:00 [2]

Control hanging at Dess.

steady run 10:00 [2]

To start of training plus collecting my one (!) control (juniors got the rest).

steady run 1:20:00 [3]

Dinnet, riverbank, up track on spur to slope of Cnoc Dubh, back via south Kinord path. Feeling listless and leg weary from start. Right hip flexors (lifting muscles) not working properly so right leg dragging a bit. Got very tiring eventually.

Note

4 hours surveying

steady run 30:00 [3]

Dess Woods and fields. Rain came at furthest point, quite heavy for a while.
Best run for a while, legs mostly behaving, breathing reasonable and legs almost had some bounce. Maybe the past few weeks are starting to improve my fitness - finally!

steady run 40:00 [3]

Lap of Ballogie, south path below hill then back over top and north to north path (bad mistake - bracken was horrific along fence line).
Right buttock not working at start but some drills helped to loosen it off.

running drills 10:00 [3]

At start of run along Deeside Way.

Surveying 3 hours

orienteering 32:00 [4]

Training at Balnagowan, had to take short course because all juniors grabbed long course (3.4 v 4.1km). Meant I was always ahead (from control 2 anyway) and only saw 2 of the juniors - E and FW. First back - makes a nice change ;-)
Right leg fine but a couple of times caught foot on branch and felt pulling in inside groin area, not sure what causing this and what it implies - probably just that the right leg isn't working properly - and I know that already!

steady run warm up/down 6:00 [3]

To start, off the back of juniors, as usual.

stretching 15:00 [1]

The new routine is 4 sets of each stretch but hold for 10 secs (previously 6 sites at 5-6 secs).

Note

3 hours surveying, some nice woodland, some tough heather.

Intervals hills 12:00 [5]

Deeside Runners, Glen Tanar. First proper session for a long time. 3x2+1 then 6 x 1+1. Struggling badly on 2 minuters but slightly better on 1 minute hill (steeper). Others went on to do more, I decided to quit while still in one piece.
Right leg better than a long time - hardly bothered by it even on warm-up. Left ham a bit tweaky at times (i jarred it badly at one point yesterday).

steady run warm up/down 38:00 [3]

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

Matwork again, didn't feel quite so hard this week.

orienteering 1:30:00 [3]

Checking tapes in Cambus. Struggling in terrain and then tweaked left foot - painful after but nothing too bad, probably happened because shoes are old and very sloppy plus loose laces. Shoes in bin now :-)
