orienteering race 1:06:00 [5]

JK Day 2 Kilnsey. Open fell, varied weather - some heavy showers. Back a bit less achey than yesterday evening, good warm-up helped ease it off and once I started racing it wasn't a problem at all. Not sure what caused it to be so twitchy yesterday.
Struggled up first hill - due to rain shower hitting at -3mins and all the blood going to my skin thus leaving muscles with nothing!
Got into O fairly quickly but struggled to interpret contours where overlain with grey limestone pavement. Pushed up hills on long legs as hard as possible. At 10 decided it was all downhill so started really pushing myself, ran harder than I have for a long time. One slight miss at 12 (ran too hard trying to chase down Kjetil B (M45 but seemed to be parallel course!) and really wobbled on uphill leg after this.
Finished in 1st place only to have QH take the lead soon after. Ended 2nd on day and 3rd overall so managed to drag something out - need to do something about this habit of crap run on Day 1 then having to work overheard on Day 2 to get something out of the weekend :-)
Totally knackered at end - glad I got to the club tent just before the hail storm.

steady run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Easy run to start and then plenty of running, strides, stretching etc.

orienteering race 1:01:00 [5]

JK Day 1 Wass. Late start so plenty of time to warm-up, but limited to the road in the gorge and mud-fest that was the west start.
Struggled to read map in dark forest (heavy cloud or thin lines?). Had a back twinge after 2nd control so struggled a bit for a while then it eased off (or I forgot about it!). Feeling a bit weak on hills and a bit wobbly on some bits of map reading. Really struggling to read map on last loop in light green area - couldn't see contours or work out ground shapes.
Saw CA as I dog-legged out of 3rd last control, so ran hard to ensure I stayed ahead to the end. Finished 6th, approx 3.30 down on CA. A bit disappointed as I felt I never really got going physically.
Note - Back really bad in evening - tried lots of stretches and gradually reduced the spasms but still a bit achey at bed time.

steady run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Bit of running, some drills and stretching.

orienteering race 18:00 [5]

JK sprint, Leeds Uni. Mostly OK but 2 errors and a few hesitations. Not feeling quick. 12th but only 40 secs off 5th so satisfied.

steady run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Decent bit of running, a few drills and some stretching - back stiff and achey from bed last night (too hard).

Intervals 4:00 [5]

Some 30 sec sprints to try to get legs turning over quicker

steady run 28:00 [3]

Kinker to Potties, checking flood damage, one part of track totally washed out but most OK despite being under several feet of water. Feeling a bit jaded still.

steady run 10:00 [3]

Hanging & collecting controls st Aboyne AAC for after school club.

steady run 21:00 [3]

Checking a few amendments to Torphantrick, lovely day. Drove to Ballater - inundated with white vans!

Intervals 6:00 [5]

Deeside Runners, Aboyne Green (last session before Glen Tanar - hurrah!). Short sharp session 6x1+1 - body and lungs felt fine but legs struggled with the turn-over speed. Feeling nice and strong so we'll see what JK brings.
