orienteering race 47:00 [5]

Local event at Torphantrick. Decent run, technically clean and strong on uphills, but struggling on brushings (they don't exist in Norway!). 4 mins down on Jake and 5 secs behind Ewan McM.
Feeling better exercising each day, so hope by next Friday should be ready to race.

orienteering 30:00 [3]

warm-up and collecting controls. Had a look at the Cambus suspension bridge - a real mess... Maybe try to get a photo in the next week.
Some unbelievable damage to the river bank near the gliding strip - huge areas of gravel/stones deposited and 3-4m high logjams in the woods fringing the river, must really have been something to be there...

cycling 1:05:00 [3]

With E, through woods to DAP then roads to Lumphanan and over to Torphins, back over high road (good stiff climb!). Decent pace for most of it. Whizz down to Kinker and into school to help with Spring Fair setting up, back up to home for lunch. Deeside way still cycleable but badly washed out in a couple of places.

steady run 30:00 [3]

Down to river and east towards Kinker - more damage and more crude stone repairs. Flood looked to be about 30cm lower than the mark of the "Spate 1937".
Feeling brighter than yesterday - maybe a chance I'll be feeling OK by JK.

steady run 55:00 [3]

With S along river bank, recovery run and a chance to see what the floods did. Lots of new shingle/sand banks and some fairly large chunks of bank reduced. Feeling very tired and weak. Need much more recovery before next weekend.

Note

Feeling washed out all day, so just a wee walk along there river Dee to check out flood damage - not sure what the flood did but there is a 100m x 10m area of boulders and gravel been dumped along the bank at one point... No doubt the land-owner got an environmental impact assessment before dumping this lot of rock... Still it might well screw up (even more) the salmon fishing.

Note

Ferry all day, arrived Immingham 2200 and drove home.

steady run 38:00 [3]

with S along Blue route to Venås and beyond to lysløpe and back via Eklimoen. Tracks very heavy soft snow, but mid pleasant day.
Last run in Norway of the trip :-(
