x-c skiing 3:00:00 [3]

From hut north, up, up, up, up - for about a hour www climbed non-stop. Eventually started some descent - lovely little trail through forest past lakes and marshes. Stopped at hut for hot drink and a want bolle. Then back onto the ever busier trails and long gradual descents back to the car park. Last 500m was horrible again - lots of ice and ruts and too many people... The whole of Oslo seemed to be out skiing.
One fall - caught edge while trying to stop quickly, went forwards and land on right side. Later ribs started aching. Not sure what the damage is it hurts to breath deeply.
Short visit to Holmenkollen - absolutely mobbed (some ski jumping and a junior XC rage finishing as we arrived. Hadn't see the newest version of Holmenkollen jump - absolutely massive and very impressive. Great views down Oslofjord in the sun.

x-c skiing 40:00 [1]

With S and E from car park north of Bogstad into hut in Nord Marka. Horrible snow for first 500m or so then good tracks. Amazing the difference in temp and snow between Oslo and the forest - from +4˚ to -2˚ in about 6 miles...

x-c skiing 30:00 [2]

With S further up trail. Took a side track and went up it for a while... not happy with the state of it - or the look of fear on some other skiers descending so turned back and it was fairly gripping on the way back - narrow slightly icy and a bit rutted. Legs burning by end of drop.

Note

Had planned some survey, but miserable day - wind, rain and cold, so bailed and drew up yesterday's work instead.

Intervals 20:00 [5]

10x2+1 on lysløpe, started at Jacket junction and went past Eklimoen towards Høiås. 5 out, 5 back, got about 25 secs further on way back, downhill and into wind.

steady run 33:00 [3]

Warm up and back, legs feeling pretty awful at start but worked into the set.

Note

Surveying 3.5 hours, mild day and overheating. Not too much felled today - just a couple of bits and pretty good going across them. Some great views over the Fjord and some lovely rocky ridge hilltops.

orienteering 45:00 [4]

Downhill courses from Høiås, did 3 of 4 then back to get E home - just as well 'cos no free food tonight in hut for E!
Enjoyed courses but Høiås is so tough running - especially at night. Managed to avoid any injuries. Good quality O - I think I hit all the controls (no kites/reflectors) just doubtful at a couple - crag on slope in light green and a boulder at end of course on flat area.
Feeling pretty tired after

steady run warm up/down 25:00 [3]

To start and between downhill courses - lovely wee track back up hill each time.

steady run 42:00 [2]

Easy run with E, blue track to Venås then ski trail to lysløpe and back. Some icy patches but mostly quite clear. Started raining at about 30 mins - E started complaining, but his own fault as he'd faffed for at least half an hour before going!

orienteering 1:05:00 [4]

Hanging controls at Berg, old map, so veg changed a bit and some recent felling. Tough area in places. Almost no snow left in woods.
