orienteering 40:00 [4]

Birse, Sondagsbana with Talent Squad. Used combined old-Birse and OS to east and south. Had the uphill section through Birse - some tough going but much was nice (keeping out of the felled areas). Tweaked right knee near change-over with Sarah.

cycling 10:00 [2]

Cycling back to car with Ewan, had to stop to pick up bits of his bell (fell apart on his first ride!) and then to get back on correct track, then bike chain broke (Sarah's nearly new bike, and finally 50m later Ewan's chain came off and jammed..... What a faff bikes are!

steady run 40:00 [3]

Running most of way back to car - pushing Sarah's bike (amazing how little downhill there was!).

steady run 1:20:00 [3]

Maroc club run from Dess - Deeside way to river bank, up river Dee - past huge shingle banks and flood strewn woods to footbridge to wee island, along top WHW and back over main road to Deeside Way, into Dess woods and up to waterfall, past Iain's and out to fields and back over top of hill. Nice pleasant chatty pace and only felt cold on the hills in the woods near the end. Maybe get away with it?
About 21 runners - great turnout.

Note

Cold set in with a vengeance (a Christmas present from E....)
Walk at Cambus O'May, exploring some of the quarries - mountain bikers have opened up a couple of nice old track lines.

steady run 53:00 [3]

Mortlich from Aboyne Loch with S &E, met Clare part way and pleasant run to top and back. Glorious morning, cold, crisp and stunningly clear - wonderful sunrise over Kerloch.
Great day to be alive - Merry Christmas to everyone.

steady run 22:00 [3]

Card delivery run - Iain, then over hill to other on lane. Blatter of rain as I left but mostly sunny and cold.

Tuesday Dec 23, 2014 #

Note

Cycle to Loch Callater with S & E, then walk up Cairn an Tuirc. Lovely day - clear skies and wind not too strong. Plenty of white hares - including one that appeared 2m away from E & I.
Mechanical problems - chain broke on ascent to Loch Callater, but managed to mend it (on second attempt!).
Moving for approx 3.5 hours

Monday Dec 22, 2014 #

Note

3-40 walk with Sarah and Ewan, Loch Muick past Glas Allt Shiel and up to near the Dubh Loch (so windy here that standing was difficult) and back round other side of Loch Muick. Mild but strong wind in exposed spots. Very enjoyable except for tired legs - I wore boots in order to keep feet dry.... too heavy!
