cycling 1:20:00 [3]

Cycle with Sarah and Ewan from Retece (just in Slovenia), steep uphill for an hour then whizz down hill and back along a lovely cycle/walking path - probably an old railway line, now tarmac and very smooth. Worked hard on climb - broke it into short sections with breaks.

orienteering race 34:00 [5]

Public race at WOC. M50, 3.3 km 240m Struggled physically - legs tired and altitude affected breathing. No major losses but hesitant and sloppy at times. 7th but 7 mins down!

Note

Drive from Misurina to Asiago via Cortina. Terrible traffic, averaged 30 mph for 4 hours..... Arrived just in time to see most of women's middle distance race at WOC, missed men's due to Ewan getting bored! Massive thunder storm after we got tent up.

Note

Via Ferrata (an easy one!) out for approx 5.5 hours. Never too terrified so that counts as a win! Some very interesting bits and pieces - particularly a steep snow slope after lunch where we met 2 guys placing a fixed rope - obviously far more snow than normal in the summer. Cut short last little section - legs getting tired and minds starting to wonder.

steady run 1:11:00 [3]

Morning run with Sarah - up bloody great hill to Refugia and back. Superb views at top.

Note

Walk round Tre Cimes, approx 2.5 hours. Fantastic views of utterly amazing mountains.

cycling 40:00 [3]

Short cycle in the wet on arrival at Misurina in the Dolomites - after very wet drive from Germany across Austria and into Italy.

Note

Drive from Zeebrugge to Memmingen (near Munich), approx 8 hours driving. Hot day, no hold ups despite several sets of road works and some big queues the other way, luck with us!
