Road race race 32:00 [5]

Devil's Burden, ran 1st leg - flattish nad mostly very good surface. Started steady and overtaken by loads of others, but gradually worked back - painkillers kicking in as race went on. Running awkwardly so legs and back muscles very sore at end from trying to stabilise trunk.
Reasonably happy with time - 31-28 to Drew 28-ish. Team ended up 4th O-50, so decent performance.

Very achey after and not comfortable in evening.

steady run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Trying to warm up round Falkland - ribs sore and not able to breath deeply.

stretching 12:00 [1]

Did a very careful and gentle stretching session, managed all parts except lying on side stretching quads - ribs too sore (and left knee wouldn't bend far enough). Body tight and achey all evening.

Friday Jan 24, 2014 #

Note

Still sore, but a bit better. Quite a lot better by evening.

Thursday Jan 23, 2014 #

Note

No surveying or indeed much of anything today - reckon I've cracked a rib and my left knee won't bend at all going downstairs.....

orienteering race 1:00:00 [5]

Deeside Night Cup, Potarch. Tricky course made harder by lots of patches of windblown trees- very good at masking shapes and, particularly, boulders!
6 misses (out of 20 controls), costing approx 7-8 mins. Not great but OK for the course tonight.
More of a worry - slipped and bounced off a tree stump, ribs very sore, hope nothing cracked.... Left knee also took a battering with a slip near the end and bashed it off a log/rock on the ground. Just as well no-one in earshot ;-)
I reckon my legs were tired from Tuesday's surveying - wearing boots rather than wellies as I had to travel in them as well as walk. They are heavier than bogtrotters so legs extra tired. Maybe good training?

steady run warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Tuesday Jan 21, 2014 #

Note

surveying 6 hours, legs tired and shoulders aching from carrying rucksack all day.

Monday Jan 20, 2014 #

steady run 15:00 [3]

Easy run round Hill of Banchory, wet underfoot.

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

pilates, good session. Felt strong and (mostly) in control.
