orienteering race 18:00 [5]

Mixed Sprint Relay at Perth College, running 3rd leg with Abi, John R and Sarah. Good start then slight hesitation leaving 5 and back-tracked, losing time to Clyde - 10 secs. Overshot 11 - 15 secs (saw a control on another tree about 10m away...the problem of 2 events on the same area at the same time!), then missed optimal route on next leg 15 secs. Other than that a couple of possibly not best route choices but mostly just running speed - 3+mins down on Murray.
Team 5th so pleased with that - a W16, M21, M50 and W45.

Couldn't face running hard any longer in ht rain so missed out on urban event.

steady run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Dceent amount of warming up over a fairly extended period. Not feeling great leg-wise and upper back was spasming very slightly - OK after warm-up and some roll-downs and stretching, possibly due to lots of driving in past few days? Possibly bad night in bed?

steady run 1:27:00 [3]

With Roger and Trevor, west gate, past Raemoir hotel, along to east and up through forest to top track, back past shed and hill top then into Raemoir map and down track off hill. Passed several people out walking and 2 other runners in last third of run - lots of people but all out a lot later than us!

Note

Surveying 6.5 hours, still tired. Lovely day after a wet drive to the forest.

Note

Surveying 7 hours, tired at start so took very steady. Very pleasant day - dry and sunny.

steady run 21:00 [3]

Steady half lap of woods from home. Legs feeling OK.

orienteering race 49:00 [5]

DNC Balmedie, started OK, then wasted 4 mins at 4 - map has completely changed with sand-blow..... overshot by a long way. rest of course pretty clean but really struggling to read the map - pretty much had to stop to check any detail.
Josh 2 mins ahead and Sasha 1 min, again......... damn him ;-)

Good course but tough running and lots of hills.

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

Nice session as starter - used foam rollers but largely matwork. Lots of clams though.....

Intervals hills 16:00 [5]

Up Clachnaben with sarah, 16x!+1 on the hill - wimped out of any more - could have fitted in 1 or maybe even 2 more, but legs were jelly and mind a mess by then!
At start legs felt weird - the stabilising muscles had been hammered by pilates and my legs felt almost like someone else's - unfortunately that person wasn't Mo Farah.
Track mostly good condition, but a couple of intervals had a slippery surface - probably sleet falling last night and freezing on the ground. Higher up was fine with a thin dusting of snow.

steady run 1:40:00 [3]

Off back of Clachnaben (original idea had been Mount Battock but that was binned by the top!) and left down to water of Dye glen. Some monster tracks carved into the hillsides by the estate - up to 5-6m wide in places and 2-3m deep - a right mess.

steady run 10:00 [2]

warm-up and a bit of jogging at athletics club, probably quite good for my legs.

stretching 12:00 [1]
