Cycling to and from Bellwood - had to get there for an early start. Nice day and nice route -about half mile on A93, rest on back roads/tracks.

orienteering race 46:00 [5]

Bellwood event, Early start (first off), lovely forest - saw 4 deer - but legs feeling pretty dreadful esp on uphills. A few wobbles early on (lack of warm-up and not focused). Generally pleased but need to be more focused and better compass & reading ahead.

Collecting controls in Sluie - 20 mins and hanging controls in Carlogie 43 mins. Both forests very dry underfoot and smelling of warm pine forest, lovely.

steady run 10:00 [3]

Warm up at Aberdeen tartan track - helping some of the Maroc and Gramp juniors with a 3000m time trial. Nice to run on a track - tempted to have a go myself, but as I was timing this wasn't really practical!

Note

Walk up Morven with Sarah and Ewan, ca 2.5 hours up and down. Lovely and warm at base, but the wind on the summit was bitterly cold and strong. Put on all clothes, grabbed some food, quick note in summit book and away.

Hanging controls at Bennachie for school event. 20 stakes - even with good rucksack was pretty terrible! walked then plodded and finally jogged.

Intervals at Bennachie - on tracks near the Colonies. Out a slightly uphill track, then back an undulating track, jog ca45 secs downhill track to start again, 3 laps. Recovery ca 1.30 or 1.40
time 3.06, 2.42, 3.09, 2.39, 2.58, 2.39. Good set and pleased to do it after schools event.
Lovely day - sunny and warm in open areas when sun out.

Surveying South Kirkhill 4.5 hours, managed about half of Elrick Hill. new plot and lots to check. Great conditions now - bracken well flattened, but starting to sprout already.
