Note

Walk wit hEwan from home to military road to Lumphanan and back via fields and Deeside Activity Park for lunch, then home through the woods.
2 hours+, mostly decent pace, nice weather, good day.

steady run 1:50:00 [3]

Glen Tanar, lots of hills and quite a lot of slush and snow. Most main tracks ploughed so not too bad, but hill over past Osprey nest and Stag stones was up to knee deep heavy snow in places :-( Legs feel ing pretty decent at end - I guess not running fast enough to hammer them badly, just tough strength work.

Note

Walk up Scolty with Sarah and Ewan - 75 minutes, going a steady pace, with heavy boots on it was fast enough!

Friday Dec 10, 2010 #

Note

Walk with Ewan from Dinnet along railway line ca 1 hour

steady run 39:00 [3]

Dess Wood loop, snow still lying in most places and over ankle deep in fields. 8degrees and hot wind blowing. Snow will be gone in a few days at this rate.

Thursday Dec 9, 2010 #

Note

Day off - shagged from yesterday - physically and mentally!
Lots of ice and snow clearing.

Wednesday Dec 8, 2010 #

orienteering race 1:07:00 [5]

DNC 3 First out and knee to waist deep snow. 4.2km course, 67 minutes..... and only a few minutes lost with misses. Conditions were dreadful, deep snow and no consistency - some soft, some crunchy and only breaking through when eight fully on. A lot of mental effort to keep going and not give up - largely due to knowing the planner had been there before so I had to follow.

Intervals intervals 16:00 [5]

Treadmill at Aboyne Community Centre - new running machine.
5x2+1, 16kmph@3.3 degree hill, 3 mins@12kmph 7.3 degree hill 3x1+1, 10.2kmph@15 degree hill.
Tough session, not sure which was harder, 5x2 or the 3x1 - 15 degree slope is pretty steep!
Very hot and stuffy in room - need to remember water next time.
Legs aching by evening - must have done something. Probably should try a session like this more often to ensure some quality - particularly when paths and rods are poor for fast running.

steady run warm up/down 32:00 [3]

10 mins warm up and 5 or so mins warm down 9 not in much state to check by end)

Note

Pushing a barrow of grit up from farm to home, to get Sarah's car up the steep bit of the drive. digging out snow pile, wheeling barrow and digging car out - ca 30 mins

stretching 12:00 [1]

Monday Dec 6, 2010 #

steady run 10:00 [3]

Short run before pilates, late getting to Banchory due to numpties on the road doing 25mph.

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

Good session ,nothing too strength based which was useful due to tired arms/shoulders

Note

Shovelling snow off greenhouse roof, clearing end of track by main road and clearing Sarah's car of snow - about 1.5 hours total

stretching 12:00 [1]
