steady run warm up/down 35:00 [3]

Looooooong warm-up to get calf and buttock working - hardly able to shuffle first thing, but OK by start of race.

orienteering race 26:00 [5]

VHI relay - medium leg, 25-56, a couple of little misses but rest OK technically, and running better than yesterday - buttock was more of a problem than calf! Still not able to run flat out - problems pulling leg through fast and stretching it forward. Anyway I haven't got anything to do for a while, so a chance to heal fully! Think I've got away without major damage but will visit physio again this coming week.

orienteering race 58:00 [5]

VHI M45, 3rd (and behind 3 M50s...). Feeling calf on warm-up, and feeling it all the way round course, never got too bad, but enough to affect my speed and smoothness in terrain. Also missed 4 controls, mostly due to sloppy technique in circle.
Later in day buttock/hamstring insertion was very tight and tweaking.

Note

Travelling to Wales for VHI

steady run 31:00 [3]

Dess Wood loop, going ok, calf still present but not too painful.

Wednesday Sep 29, 2010 #

Note

should have been control hanging etc for schools festival, but event cancelled due to weather, took day off.

Tuesday Sep 28, 2010 #

steady run 15:00 [1]

Hanging and collecting controls at Kemnay Academy, steady drizzle all morning - lovely.

steady run warm up/down 32:00 [3]

New Aboyne session for Deeside Runners (first change since session began a couple of decades ago!) intervals round the Green - grass, but will get more difficult as darkness falls earlier. Warm up and down, cut session short to protect calf.

Intervals 16:00 [5]

4 x intervals on Aboyne Green (each 2 laps of central football and rugby pitch). Feeling calf a little - a bit more on last one, but never bad. Tight on drive home, but eased with some massage and a hot shower. Wait till morning to se if still OK!
Times - ??, 3-55, 3-56, 3-51 - something to aim at improving when I can run completely freely.

Monday Sep 27, 2010 #

steady run 16:00 [3]

Run round Hill of Banchory - calf feeling pretty decent, given 0915 run and chilly day!

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

good session, feeling strong and controlled.
