orienteering race 1:04:39 [5]

Gramp event at Glen Dye, Brown course, 8.4km 64.39, 2nd to Oleg (59...). A little scrappy round some controls and one leg where I switched off and ran too far, but got things together and running strongly in terrain. Really enjoyed racing and felt close to a proper racing groove at times. Should really try to get to more events in top quality areas....
Glen Dye has had a fair amount of forestry work recently and is slower than one time (honest) - lots of brashings and also a bit damper than normal after Thursday's rain.

Pleased with how I felt after a fairly heavy week's training. A few more weeks like this and I'll be in better shape for RtH "Run across Scotland" see www.runningthehighlands.com/running-tours

steady run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Minimal warm-up to start and then some controls collecting long after I finished - loosened my legs nicely.

cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Glen Tanar with Ewan on tag-along, from Braeloine carpark, around half of Tuesday interval route and back. Stopped to pick Chantrelles at a few spots (I'd seen them on yesterday's run). Got 4l of mushrooms and a decent bit of effort on way out (uphill) and then a speedy but easy return.

steady run 1:40:00 [3]

Tower of Ess up to Guard, turned right onto moor track (a river today!) down and up next hill, turned left above Osprey Hill and over to interval route, back via interval route (in reverse) and along south Glen Tanar path. Going OK and feeling pretty good most of way, even managed a push towards the end when I went past a dog walker (have to look good to the punters!)

steady run 12:00 [4]

picked up pace on return along railway line.

Note

rest day - felt I deserved it and also was surveying for 5 hours at Gordon Schools.

Intervals 18:00 [5]

6x2+1 flat and 6x1+1 hills at Glen Tanar. Going well, right adductor twinged a couple of times but otherwise behaved itself - Dave H suggested it could be due to more cycling than normal - I hope so 'cos I can easily avoid that ;-)

steady run warm up/down 20:00 [3]

run to and from pilates. feeling pretty good

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

pilates session at Deeside Activity Park - mostly OK - used small inflated ball for extra work on some exercises. Right adductor still tight and whole right hip/pelvis area not feeling quite right.

steady run 1:10:00 [3]

With Sarah up Pressendye from Tarland. Steady most way up and slightly longer descent route (second half of Tarland Show race route). Feeling pretty good - perhaps some fitness is finally showing!
