Dipped out of Birnam Hill race - didn't feel great and the thought of a 4 hour round trip for a 40 minute race didn't appeal.
Ran with sarah on hill near Tornaveen - Correnie Hills, misty on top and fairly heavy heather. Cool with moderate wind but never unpleasant.

Hanging controls for Sunday training at Tilquhillie. Feeling pretty good and sprightly. Forest is getting much better - hope they don't fell too much more for a while.

Run through Cambus to check for damage by forestry work. Not as much as feared from previous run on paths - seems most bad tractor wallows are near tracks. Area is still great, but tough, and visibility s improved by thinning work in some places. Brashings not too much of an issue, just a few patches here and there - most of the pine trees are too stunted in growth due to poor soil (rocks!) and climate to be huge luxurious trees.

Intervals on railway west of Dinnet, 8x2+1, a bit of snow on ground so slippery in places. felt dreadful at start - really wheezy, and struggled to really hurt legs.

Running the Highlands, long run at Balmoral, snow on paths and tracks, ca 4-6" deep at start, another 5-6" during run (pretty heavy at times!). Great run with good company and feeling pretty good for all of it, a bit stiff at end - but nothing too bad.

Running the Highlands, guided run at Balmoral, river bank, uphill past garron paddock, to Albert Cairn, down the past JB statue and back via front lawn. Very pleasant pace, 3-4 "snow in places but in t-shirt and shorts for most of run.

short whiz up to Aboyne to pick up car from garage (no, not repairs, just a service!)

Aboyne Green with Deeside Runners 12 x approx 400m, 82-84 seconds and 79 for last. Feeling apprehenisve beforehand, but got into the set and was pleased at how strong I felt on last few, could have continued a while longer.

SOL 1 Dalrulzion, M21L course, tired from Saturday. Started pretty well and caught Helen B near 8 then good through open area, lost time crossing some shite to 19 - wind-blow, new quarry and then dodgily hung control (on hill side rather than re-entrant. Starting to tire and gradually got ropier and more weaving near end. Helen B caught me just as we left the forest and ran away - but I spotted best line to last control and snuck it ahead of her and stayed ahead on run-in. Not worked that hard for a while! 14 minutes down on Markie, really struggled to run cleanly over brashings and fallen trees, no confidence in my knees and stopping and starting a lot.

decent warm-up - but the "up to 20 mins to start" were more like 3 or 4! lots of jogging about near start. Grovel back from finish to car park.

Scottish Sprint Champs, Perth, Inches grotty housing estate. Good course (though some iffy gates/high fence round a school), not focussing and definitely not living in the future. Need to work harder at this if i'm to crack urban sprint-O. 3rd - Dave R and Dixie ca 40 and 10 secs ahead.

Control hanging and collecting at Deuchney and Kinnoull Hill. Sneaky exercise for Talent Squad with circular map and no grid lines. All coped pretty well.

Deeside Runners, Aboyne Green, 10x2+1. Going reasonably well after the hard sessions of last week. Legs not quite as bouncy as last Tuesday but improved distance from 1-3-5-7 and only dropped a few metres on 9.
