Decent warm-up and felt Ok on easy run to start and some running around start area.
Bit of jogging on way back, but pretty stuffed!

Oof, that didn't go as planned. Started OK, taking things easy when breathing got too laboured and pretty clean on first 12 controls. One maybe suspect route choice ac ross the boggy spur above the start but everything else was good. Then 13 - pushed a bit harder on 9-12 and basically the wheels came off after leaving 12 - a couple of wee climbs and I was in the red. Misread a couple of tracks and didn't stop long enough to check what was going on. Then stopped way too early and faffed for 3-4 minutes before eventually getting my shit together and working out where I was. Then 14 - Fine till 50m from control and then just blindly ran past and onto next spur, big loop to relocate - 2 mins. Finished 8th, 7+ down, could so easily have been 2nd or 3rd!
I reckon I pushed too hard, and possibly the heat was getting to me, but once I was lost I couldn't make anything fir on the map - it was just squiggles ... not had a blank like that for a long time!
Anyway, running was obviously OK, given pace I was using early on.
Split times will be interesting...
