Wee run in Hill of Banchory, lots of brambles.... but many at dog leg height...... maybe give them a miss!

Good session - lots of dynamic moves. Some aches from shoulders, arms and back after weights yesterday.

Morning run (7am - very early for me!) from Glenmore Lodge to Ryvoan Bothy and back. Very pleasant run and good company.

Strength and conditioning talk/practical session. Some time in gym and doing several exercises. Very interesting and will try to incorporate some into training in future.

orienteering 35:00 [5]

Short fun relay from Lodge, ran TD5 course and went straight on most legs (even when path faster). Some tough terrain in Glenmore!!

With CE up Cairngorm from car park. Steady push all way to top. Warm and still, a little thin cloud on summit.

With Sarah, Tower of Ess up Glen Tanar south side, left up to deer stones, down diagonal through Glen Tanar map. Feeling heavy legged and generally worn out.

Intervals hills 20:00 [5]

4x5+5 on hill from car park at Deeside Activity Park to top gate. First two felt almost easy (checking out right groin that had tweaked slightly during sprints on Monday), then started pushing harder and last one pretty intense.
5-05. 5-09, 4-58, 4-45. Must try this a few times over the winter - a good hill and a decent session for endurance.

Glen Tress with Sarah, Ewan and Joel - did whole blue route, pleasant up and (mostly) pleasant down - just a couple of hairy moments. Very warm by end and almost too hot driving home.

Aboyne to Dinnet and back along Deeside Way then couple of short loops in woods by Aboyne Castle to take up the time of Ewan's tennis lesson.
Legs feeling OK, left hip etc no problems, maybe exercises are working.

Loch of Auchlossan road loop, intervals 11x2+1. Started OK and then pushed harder towards end - particularly on uphill section. Very warm and sweaty.

Glen Tanar with Deeside Runners, 2 Bridges loop, lots of sore bits (pilates....) but once running felt good and happy with reasonably brisk pace. All day on computer drawing map had me feeling pretty groggy and washed out by 5pm, but a hunt for our broody hen helped clear my head (found her after 40mins... in the first place they laid eggs when we got them back in March!).

School athletic club - decent warm-up and lap of woods, various bits of faffing with long jump etc. Managed to tweak a thigh muscle in warm-up....... getting old!

Had planned a rest day but weather so nice on return from Lakes that I had to go for a run - easy jog along Deeside Way to Pitmurchie Road, up to mansion house, across fields and reverse of normal Dess Loop, past Iain's house and waterfall, went to bridge and forced myself to run (slowly) all way up to home. Legs still got heavy drained feel - I guess last weekend and surveying was too much.

With sarah - Torphins up to Learney hill nad loop to west - new track to west from spur, brought us out at farm near south entrance, loop of woods to finish. Feeling very tired, need recovery over weekend - should be easy as driving to PP relays tomorrow.

Cambus Canters - feeling tired and mentally drained, nothing in legs or head - PW by a long way. Shame everyone else was flying.... a bit depressing to have 10-12 runners go past like I was standing still! Oh well, should get a good handicap for next year!

orienteering race 1:04:00 [5]

Local event at Creag Choinnich - Brown course despite legs complaining. Pushed as hard as possible and clean till second last - drifted right and lost approx 30-40 secs. Pleased to ber only 2 mins down on John R and ahead of Callum R. V ery tired and hungry after - glad there wasn't a request for help with control collecting....

Up to start to check for control descriptions, then back to asembly and up later with Ewan. A bit of a grovel back from finish - really struggling by then.

Note

No stretching 'cos out for meal with parents and bro (his 60th). Too full when got home - greedy pig as ever.
