Deeside Runners, Aboyne green 8x2+1. Started steady going well by end. Warm - 12C, top off for half session & wished I'd worn shorts not tights.

Warmed up for X-C race at Balgownie, but knees too achy and generally uttered drained after night-O. Didn't start - probably the sensible option, but hard to do!

Scottish Nights, Glen Dye. Course 2 - 2nd to Jase. Bad error at 9 (3.5 mins) plus 4 or 5 other misses. Worst night-O performance for a long time. Had a coffee before - maybe made me too buzzed to settle properly.

Gym at Aboyne, busy. Usual lunges, leg straightener and sit-ups, 4 sets.

DNC 12, Crathes (last event in series). Great little course in west end of Crathes (the interesting bit). Good run, mostly clean (a couple of hesitations in early part) and running hard. 1 second behind Josh.....
Good curry after at Derbar, 40 of us there!

Dess Wood 5x2+2 hills from DAP gate. Distance OK, best the last (as usual!). Please to have done it.

Home to DAP and along to buzzard track end. Back via contour along nice forest past view point. Legs feeling OK in terrain.

CompassSportCup at Faskally. Brown - someone actually managed to shoehorn in 7.2km into that tiny area, and it showed, there were a lot of dead running legs. Still it managed to bamboozle me enough to miss out a control (do a Jimmy) at 17. Pissed off as otherwise I'd have been reasonably high up and have got a few decent scalps (well, decent for an M50!).

Arntilly Craig from Corsedarder road with Sarah. Steady on way up and then cut run short to attend meeting with local landowner. Some nice forest and good detail on hill top and north slope. Worth further exploration - preferably with O-shoes not trail shoes!

With Ewan from Shooting Greens carpark to Potties carpark and back. Plus a wee diversion to check out new path from half-way carpark.

orienteering race 47:00 [5]

Deeside Night Cup 11, Cambus O'May. First victory of the season. Not completely clean, one bad error at 7 - ca 2 minutes and a missed route choice on 5-6 and several wobbles. Could have been 4-5 mins quicker. It wil be interesting to see George Best's time!

Local O event, Dess Woods. Plodded steadily round, 8 mins down on Felix Spath (young German guy in Aberdeen).
Tired and a bit achey from skiing (and falling).

With Sarah and Ewan from gliding strip to Cambus footbridge and back. Very pleasant pooter along, but got cold on return due to Ewan nicking my windproof top....

Downhill skiing 2:00:00 [2]

Day at Glen Shee - lovely and sunny for first couple of runs then clouded over, but still very pleasant conditions - mild and dry. Snow gradually got a bit porridgy especially on lower sections near carpark. Using touring skis with free heel - OK on easier stuff but not enough control on steeper and icy patches. One bad fall with a banged head, caught outside edge as steep slope levelled out and flew sideways... - can't ever remember bashing my head in a ski fall before.
Legs tired by end - having to push hard on skis and also tensing up on steeper bits...

Home to Iain's (stop for 15 mins chat!) then along railway line and up towards Mortlich, running out of time so didn't go last climb from gate but turned left and down to Aboyne Loch and Golf Course. Pushed run most of the way, feeling OK but toiling on steeper uphills.

DNC 10 at Forvie. Start at north end, lots of variety, very good course, long legs, short legs, blank areas, details etc. Very enjoyable except for strong, very cold wind (a cold south wind is fairly unusual). A bit hesitant early on (1-3) and a wobble on last control and run-in!

Coaching, did a bit of warm up with TD5 athletes (all 4 of them), but only a couple of minutes! Feeling tired from lack of sleep and feet aching from dancing.

Maroc run with group of 13, Corsedarder stone to west then onto Caper reserve and south to Feughside road, crossed Water of Feugh (cold!!) and ran into fox shooting party - but they'd just given up and we carried on to eastalong river bank - lovely patch of forest. Met fox hounds near sawmill (never realised packs of fox hounds existed up here), then back up tracks through forest to start. Good run, felt tired but had speed to catch up leaders a couple of times on return up hill. Windy/sleet/snow - not as nice weather as Friday!

Road junction above Cross Roads hotel to west along ridge - new planting at start, but proper gate and a decent track for most then fence climb and into heather with animal tracks. Feeling tired legs after past 3 days, but nice enough run. To cairn on Craiglich - lovely still day with great views. Carried on to bonfire site then back along south side of Craiglich and joined into outward route. Very pleasant run.

Gym session, 3 sets of lunges, leg straightening and sit ups, plus 2 sets of calf raises.

Deeside Night Cup 9, Shooting Greens. Starated at NW corner and some controls in detailed area then across to east and route choices through open areas..... Missed last control badly - poor compass and drifted too far east, had to head west a long way to relocate on the fence - possibly 3-4 minutes......
Overall felt dreadful physically, no drive up hills or across brashy slippery terrain, lots of walking.

jog along track before start to try to get legs moving - worked reasonably well, but still tired

Needed the stretching - legs very stiff - left groin still a bit tender and quads tight.
