Running long (Trail) 1:01:02 [3] 11.75 km (5:12 / km) +351m 4:31 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6 - 2

North Ferriby - South Cave, Point-2-Point
Trails in great condition, fair W. wind but mostly sheltered.
Two things I learned today -
1. OS Locate Android app is USELESS at logging Trail runs
2. I appear to have subconsciously drifted into "Winter Training Mode" without really realising it!

EBOR Autumn Series - University of York
IDEAL Sprint Training opportunity - aim : good (top end "3"/low "4" pace and navigate fluently and accurately)..............F A I L
Not sure what the problem is at present, end of season blues, races don't count for anything? Really not sure, all I know is that any Sprint Mojo I had has gone!
A bit slow and steady generally through the course then major disaster late on crossing back across the lake. Haven't got map or splits - maps were being recycled due to a much larger turnout than expected and I was so cross about the problem I didn't download - ok - that's a mistake - I should have, but I was SO cross!
Leg was a 50/50 route choice between 2 bridges. Firstly I hadn't spotted the gap (steps) to the E of the outbound control, so chose the N option which (supposedly) skirted a large OOB area (construction site) with a gap allowing you access to the northern bridge. I couldn't work out that the two, fairly insignificant, red felt tip pen marks on the map, actually showed that the path through the OOB wasn't accessible, therefore resulting in a massive detour around a very large block of buildings (no gaps or passages through) before reaching the next lakeside crossing point well to the N. of my intended, originally planned route!
OK - minor (Level D) event, but none-the-less, still very annoyed about it!

Urban Orienteering (Campus Sprint) 16:50 [3] 3.05 km (5:31 / km) +5m 5:28 / km

Stars Course - still no map (recycle) but did download despite a very silly, sloppy error at control 10 (Amanda has her map!). I think I just switched off thinking "this is easy" - long leg, chose S. route approaching control from directly S. across the last bridge over the lake. Just ploughed straight into the corner of the building to a bush - description was (correctly) tree. Made map fit - was in building corner SW of where should have been, almost thought - there's no control, I'll just go to 11 but decided to stick with it and work it out - in a way glad I did - "just" a silly error, with only self to blame!
Think the rest of the course went ok, certainly influenced on some RC's by running similar legs on SuperStars.
Still, overall, not especially happy!

Running (Campus Sprint) 13:33 [2] 2.19 km (6:12 / km) +5m 6:08 / km

Was going to run SuperStars as a warm down but there were no maps (or Stars either!) so picked up an Intermediate Course map and jogged round that - in parts, especially towards the end, it was just as technical as Stars and SuperStars.
Just very cross - with myself mainly, so thought this might help.
Had a word with Steve W. before leaving and will be consulting in more detail in an effort to help my Sprint technique.

Note

In best @okitlogo tradition - Hull Thursday Pub League - The Stats
How (not?) to run "Urban Nights"!
Total number of events - 6
Total Controls collected - 127 (yes, every single one - even if one or two were over the time limit!
Total Time Run - 251 minutes 37 seconds (from Garmin - not "official" time!)
Total Distance Run - 51.91 km
Total Climb - 173 metres
Another very enjoyable series of events - THANKS to all planners, organisers and helpers, where would we be without you all?
6 PM

Urban Orienteering (Night Odds & Evens Score) 43:19 [4] 9.21 km (4:42 / km) +4m 4:42 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6 Blue

Final HALO Thursday Pub League in Brigg
Thought it was fairly straight forward - chose odds first, anti-clockwise from start then along southern edge of map to east end finishing in the school - only loss when did a miss-fold on the map going to 115 and not convinced was on the correct W-E road (I was!) - 30 seconds.
A bit slow in the school grounds on the initial Evens - beam not really strong enough on torch to pick out any semi-distant detail! Lost significant time on 128 not seeing (very) small gap in hedge to NE of control and so going all the way round (in and out!) - 1 min 40 (from GC trace).
Another very enjoyable Urban Night though all the same :)

Running long (Trail) 1:00:05 [3] 10.59 km (5:40 / km) +342m 4:53 / km
shoes: Wave Harrier 3 Black

All set up to go to Track then thought "this is why I only want P/T work at most, so I can get get out in daylight"! So why am I drawn to running around in little circles (well, distorted ovals(!)!) in the dark when I can run over the trails and hills from my doorstep and in daylight - (almost) a no brainer!

Running (Trail) 29:51 [2] 5.27 km (5:40 / km) +103m 5:10 / km
shoes: Yellow Adidas Swoop - 1

Needed an easy run (well, that's what my legs told me!) so had a jolly with one full loop of LWP. Dressed for the rain, which promptly stopped just before setting out, and became warm and sunny!
