Running hills (Bishopshill) 1:05:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:30 / km) +400m 5:25 / km
shoes: Saucony Ride ISO

Off the cuff hill run, just trainers.
Luckily it was very dry.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 2.0 mi (7:30 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Ride ISO

Orienteering race (Bonaly Blue Course) 56:07 [4] 7.0 km (8:01 / km) +235m 6:52 / km
shoes: Saucony Ride ISO

Didn’t expect to be in Edinburgh but just turned up with no kit in the hope of getting some sort of run. Trainers and shorts and tee shirt, no SI, compass or magnifier.
Got lucky borrowed a compass (baseplate) and SI, the map was 1:5000 and conditions were dry (although still went down heavily several times).
A few errors early on until I got used to the baseplate.
Very enjoyable, thanks ESOC.
5th.

Running tempo (LT Racecourse ) 33:00 [4] 6.5 km (5:05 / km)

shoes: NVii Forest 2

Orienteering race (Traquair Sprint) 26:35 [4] 2.9 mi (9:10 / mi)
shoes: NVii Forest 2

Good fun, tricky little course.
It used the very tricky maze and unfortunately I didn’t see the enlarged section of the map so tried to navigate on something smaller than a postage stamp without much success. Managed to come back out both times on memory though which was a good exercise.

Circuit Training (Gym at home) 50:00 [3]

Sunday May 15 #

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.5 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: NVii Forest 2

Orienteering race (Loch Ordie SOL) 47:33 [4] 5.65 km (8:25 / km) +180m 7:16 / km
shoes: NVii Forest 2

Good variety, tricky to begin with physical in the middle and fast at the finish.
A few more errors than yesterday but the consistency is coming back.
Overshot 2 (which others said was obvious from below), off to the right at 3 but quickly sorted it. Got too high at 6 even though I knew where I had crossed the burn and knew I had to go left. Went safe (round) to 7, easy from there to the finish just running as fast as possible (although I lost time to 11 by coming off the track too early and getting into a boggy wood).
3rd MSV and 2nd M60 to Big Jon.
