Good run at “qualifying pace”.
Lost 13 sec when SI air didn’t work at finish. (Went back & punched)
Finished a comfortable 2nd.

Really pleased to finish 2nd M50 (Only 1 place behind the winner).
Scottish Athletics Silver Medal as this was East District Hill Running Championship. Another Silver as part of the Gala Harriers 2nd placed team.
Used local knowledge to my benefit as usually had slightly better routes off the tops that those around me.

Always an enjoyable event, real mixed terrain.
Great buffet (and drinks) after.
Getting back into racing mode, paced it well and worked hard to gain places in 2nd half.

Very poor run (took twice as long as leaders). Could not get into 1:4000 scale in a wooded environment. Was in completely the wrong area at several controls, no contours, paths were indistinct and veg was unreadable.
Best tactic appeared to be to carefully compass and pace.
Actual time was over 30 mins as I didn't go to the last control and only realised after waiting for 5 mins at the finish.

Fantastic terrain on the moor, fast intricate and fun.
Unfortunately the last few controls dropped down through some bracken and rocky bits. Great event and great day for running.
Was in contention on the moor but dropped back to 4th through the rougher stuff.
