Running 45:00 [3]

Run with Klepper in High Park. That dude is fit!

Also, High Park, pretty awesome urban map.

Cross-country skiing 2:00:00 [3]

Amazing ski with Karl from P7. Past Champlain on Ridge and then hot Burma action on the way back. As per usual, the Gats are probably at their best right now, just as people start complaining about wanting to go road biking soon.

Nakkertok is hosting Nationals next year. Will be very big. That club is a well oiled machine. They are having issues with CCC and finding the right loop for the 50km, but I suspect they will flex a bit and say: this is the race course, that's it that's all.

Off to Toronto for a week, staying near High Park. Maybe a night in the Hammer.

Cross-country skiing 2:00:00 [1]

Long classic ski with Martin from Meech up to Mackinstry, a cabin I had only once been to. Amazing conditions, although snow was a little slow. My classic technique still leaves a lot to be desired.

Martin talked about how Ottawa should bid for the Winter Olympics along with Lake Placid. Interesting idea that would never work because the City of Ottawa doesn't think about going for stuff like that. But, using Lake Placid means you don't have to build a bobsled course (biggest white elephant of the games), best legacy would be Ottawa having a speed skating oval (Quebec City has been talking about building one for 20 years). Ottawa has a bunch of wee alpine spots you could do all the dumb X-game sports. Enough big arenas, (current and new Sens place, Landsdown, new Hull one coming soon).

You'd need a whole new Nordic / biathlon facility and have to be careful about it being used enough.

But, there's zero culture in the City of Ottawa to go after stuff like this, so zero chance of it happening.
