QOC: Mid-Atlantic champs at Oregon Ridge. Red. A fast course but a lot of climb slowed me down. Twisted the right ankle a bit on the short leg from 3-4 and it hurt off and on for the rest of course. Would have liked to run faster on the mostly open woods. Lost time on the last two controls, leaving 11 in the wrong direction, then leaving 12 as if I was leaving 13 for the finish. 1:30 lost right at the end.

QOC: Mid Atlantiics at Oregaon Ridge. Relay. Leg C on a QOC relay with Heidi Onkst and Greg Lennon. A lot of climb again and I tweaked the ankle enough early in the course to have it hurting for the rest. Started shortly behind 3 team. Tom Nolan ran away and I never saw him again. Passed one person at the first control, and passed Karl Ahlswede on the third. He passed me back after I died on the long uphill to 4. Chased him for the rest.
I think we would have been 7th but Greg had mispunched.
Note
After the meet, I stopped at Ledo Pizza to get something to eat and kill some time so I would miss the bulk of the Redskin traffic. Did not hit the road until nearly 5pm. Then there was an accident that closed I95 and I was stuck in the back up for about 3.5 miles. I would like to commend the Maryland and local police for the abysmal job of traffic control. They blocked off the road forcing everyone to exit at Rte 100 and then ignored what happened. Every 10 minutes (on the 8s) WTOP would give a traffic report and a horde of cars would go racing by on the shoulder - which only led to the same exit that everyone else was using. I eventually got home a little before 8pm.
On the plus side, I did miss the Redskins traffic.
