Note

So, feeling pretty well recovered now and have to be happy with how that’s gone. Was v tired and not sleeping well for the first week post race, but energy levels have gradually returned to normal this week. Managed to avoid any post race lurgy which is a big success.

To the far end of Loch Muick from Glenmuick cp. Into a headwind for most of it and for some reason decided to flog myself to try and stay ahead of a dolly bird half my age on a lecky bike.... Misjudged a drain near the end which hammered the back wheel causing a flat and a damaged rim. Oops.

Up to Dubh Loch to bag another frog CP. Jog / walking keeping the intensity low - tired from yesterday and looking for an easy day. Rain came in as well as the wind, so not the most pleasant swim in the world. Jogged back to the bike then wheeled it back out - wasn't in a rush so was able to be pretty chilled about this and enjoy a contemplative walk, reflecting on life the universe and everything!

Glencat skyline (kind of) with RB, RB and KH. From Ballogie out over Lamahip, Brackenstake, Carnferg, then descended via Scooby Doo and back out above Balfour house, finishing on the road. Nice social with nobody pushing the pace. Felt ok for most of it but died completely in the last 30' and feet started to get a bit sore too. 0.5l of liquid wasn't enough either.

With RB. Up to Loch Kander, swim, then up onto Cairn an Tuirc ( munching blaeberries en route). Back down to Callater by the big track, swim then back on the bikes. Good chat and nice steady pace without pushing - legs didn’t feel that great on the climb. Much nicer day and less windy than anticipated.

Strathdon - Gairnshiel loop with SS from Cambus. Legs felt good for this. A bit of work into the headwind heading up Strathdon, but climb over the Little Lecht didn't feel too awful. Nice catch-up :-)

Walk down to the island on the Dee to bag frog CP93 with a swim under the bridge. Getting chilly- need to get a shift on with the other ones before they’re covered in ice again!
