Long run with KH from GT up onto the tops east of MK - Hill of Gairney (CP77 #47), Cock Cairn (CP79 #48) and Hill of Cat (CP82 #49). Good going underfoot with plenty of tracks and trods. Boggy ground and peat hags much improved by residual firm snow. Been up there twice in the last year and they’re not the most exciting of hills, so suspect that may be last trip for a while! Longest run in a while and struggling by the end - not least with various niggles in left knee and numbing foot. Good to catch up with K and get some big miles under the belt. Easy day needed tmrw.

Up Glen Callater to the lodge CP28 #44 with SS. Hadn’t anticipated the fresh snow and track a bit icy, but ok for biking.

Running 2:40:00 [2] 15.1 km (10:36 / km) +605m 8:50 / km

From Lochcallater lodge up to Loch Kander (CP31 #45) picked up some nice lines on the old snow pack in places, but care needed with snow bridges. From LK decided to try a direct climb out the east of the corrie to minimise time on the tops where we expected the wind to be quite vicious. Most of the ascent was fine but did get a bit ‘interesting’ towards the top, with an awkward rock step. Glad of the axe for final section also. After that a nice run out to Tolmount (CP34 #46) on snow fields ranging from soft fresh snow to icy old pack and everything in between. Dobbs were ok but S doing better with her micro spikes. Descent back down Jocks road ish mostly ok in the softer stuff.

Tour of Trustach to show SW the trails. Added on an extra wee loop over last time to make it into a full 10km. Legs tired - must have done some work yesterday. Good chat.

8 x 3’ + 1’ round LK. Legs heavy on the climbs. Felt ok otherwise but definitely moving at snail pace. Was badly in need of this to get a brief escape from Zoom.

From Gairnshiel straight up the fence line onto Fox Cairn (CP48 #42) then down, splash across the Gairn and up onto Cnoc Chlaman (CP44, #43). Back across the river by the bridge and round the bottom of the hill to start point. V pleasant. Lots of peewits down by the river and a couple of hare on the hill. Legs feeling ok.
