Running 1:50:00 [3] 13.32 km (8:15 / km) +551m 6:51 / km

Culblean and Crannach hills from Cambus with SR. Heavy legged at the start but ok once I got warmed up. Stayed mostly dry and humid apart from 5’ of heavy shower in the middle. Line onto Crannach not too bad, and lovely along the top but still haven’t found a decent line off to cross back to Cambus.

Note

Decided to postpone plans for another big hill day. Legs and body in pretty good shape, but mentally feeling pretty drained. Good week but perhaps not the most chilled of breaks for various reasons.

Quinag with J taking in all 3 tops. More of a walk than a run. Feeling pretty stuffed and J wasn’t wanting to move any quicker either. Pretty nice day. Strong wind on the tops.

Early morning Suilven while the boys had a lie in. Fell straight out of the van and started running in case the midges were still hanging about. Took a bit to get moving and felt dead on the main climb, but worth every bit of effort. This really is one of my fave (maybe no 1) hills in Scotland. 1:41 total to the top and after a few mins taking photos ( whilst still trying to stay upright), decided to see if I could get back in sub 3. Made it with 4s to spare but needed a bit of a sprint along the road at the end. Rewarded with the out and back crown for my effort. Fab :-))

Wee spin on the road to try and loosen off, but into a grim headwind on the way out.

From Lochinver up Glencanisp, over to Little Assynt then back along the Inver, with J. Wind died down and rain stayed off, bar a 5’ shower. Got pretty wet from the bottom up though, with several kms of bog followed by a waist deep river crossing. Legs feeling not too bad. Great loop for a non mountain day and really enjoyed it.

Recovery day - blowin a hooley with frequent heavy rain showers too. Heading north and landed up at Ardmair at a proper campsite with showers, so decided it was worth getting wet to make the most of it. With J, along the road north initially but it turned into a bit of an adventure ‘run’ to try and avoid getting killed on the road... Bracken, bog, rock, heather, cliffs, sea... it had it all. All good fun I think!

End to end from the top of Glen Strathfarrar to Glen Carron over Maoll Lunndaidh, Moruisg (where I met J) and Sgurr nan Ceannaichean. First 6.5km were along a lovely stalkers path above Loch Monar. After that it was off track all the way. Nice line onto the first top and it stayed dry up til then. Then it all got a bit rougher on the big descent to cross Glen Fhiodaig followed by a monster climb back up to Moruisg. Light rain by this time too. Feeling well stuffed by the time I met J on the top, but it seemed a shame not to bag the ‘old munro’ final top too. Descent to Glen Carron was more than a bit gritty, especially the second half which was just relentless bog. A good mountain day.
