Running 32:00 [3] 4.8 km (6:40 / km) +120m 5:56 / km
shoes: Salomon Speedcross Vario

Round the woods in the dark. In need of a head clear and leg loosener. Last few days have felt quite mentally draining, but all worthwhile I hope.

Running 30:00 [2]

Control hanging / collecting at Hallglen and other bits of jogging around at ScotJOS training. Legs feeling very stiff.

Friday Dec 7, 2018 #

Running 1:35:00 [3] 9.6 km (9:54 / km) +540m 7:43 / km
shoes: Speedcross 4

From Dollar Glen up onto King’s Seat. Was pretty wild up there and my head wasn’t in the right place to put myself through too much, so dropped from there back down the Burn of Sorrow (I wonder how it got that name?). Not moving very fast on any of it. Glad of all my kit when the hail came on towards the end.

Running 55:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:07 / km) +80m 5:51 / km
shoes: Salomon Speedcross Vario

Devilla forest. Set off in the dusk at 4:30. Round tracks and paths using the O map until I went off the edge round Peppermill dam. Got a bit confused trying to get back onto it further round but all worked out fine in the end. Not much of the forest left - guess that’s why there don’t seem to have been any events here recently.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2]

Orienteering race 42:00 [3] 4.3 km (9:46 / km) +100m 8:45 / km

DNC #7 Balnagowan. Having a lovely time tonight and all the controls were popping up nicely. Something had to go wrong. It did and I think it was an orienteering first for me. I lost my map. I fell down a hole and after picking myself up checked I had compass, magnifier, brikke. Saw J making a mistake and dropping to the control behind the spur, so ran to it, punched and then realised I didn’t have a map *#%^*#* Spent some 5’ hunting before EC appeared so clung onto her through no 9 and as far as the track before making my sorry way back down the track. At least I enjoyed what I did and the new contact lenses did seem a lot better.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 3.6 km (5:33 / km)

W-u to green and back after

Running intervals 28:00 [5] 5.1 km (5:29 / km)

DR. 6x3'+1.5' on the green. Felt better than I have at other interval sessions recently, managing to stick with RW and ME ok. Cold night. Nice for running but soon chilled off at end of reps.

Stretching 10:00 [1]

Monday Dec 3, 2018 #

Running 1:09:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:54 / km) +230m 6:11 / km
shoes: Salomon Speedcross Vario

Last light of the day from home along DW then up the Mortlich track from Boddomend. Onto Low Hill then aiming for the gate through to the plantation, but got in a right guddle trying to avoid the broom / gorse areas and ended up in windblow instead. Had to reverse a few times before escaping to the path I wanted to be on. Eventually on down the forest tracks to Tarland Way and in to Aboyne. Nice to stay dry whilst getting some fresh air.
