Running 40:00 [2]

Running around at the JST. Test run of the yellow to make sure IT all working fine, then collecting a few controls at the end.
Great event as ever. Close run thing for Maroc - got some work to do at the yellow / orange end of things before next year.... where are all the girls in Deeside at the mo?

Note

Happy to get a block of hard weeks completed - much easier one coming up.

Running 3:25:00 [3] 26.3 km (7:48 / km) +800m 6:46 / km

With UTMR ladies - RB, KH and ME. Didn't seem too bad (although chilly wind) as we set off, but not far up Glen Callater before we had to stop to put on thermals, waterproofs and gloves. Feeling battered by the time we got to the top of Carn Tuirc so decided to shorten by by-passing Carn of Claise and head straight for Tolmount. Slick map and compass to take us to the col where we met another 3 runners trying to do a round of the plateau munros, They'd already missed one top and I'm not totally convinced they knew where they were... From Tolmount we decided to head straight back down by Jock's Rd, except we ran across the top of it without even seeing it. Doubled back and found bits of scrappy path further down which gradually improved, but it seemed a long way back out to the loch. Groin was not enjoying the descent and legs felt totally stuffed by the time we hit the decent track. Tried not to hold the others up too much, but struggling to keep up on the way back down the glen.
Character building stuff, but all good training I guess. Hoping niggle is none the worse for it. Tomorrow will tell.

Groin still niggly, so decided a bike effort might be more sensible than a run. To Alford via back roads. Stop for early lunch at the bistro, then on to Kildrummy by the main road. Turned off here and home via the back roads - Cushnie, Corse etc. Tough wee route, especially on the return.
Niggle much less noticeable now - everything else stuffed too!

Note
(rest day)

Busy day. Niggle in left adductor area. And wet / windy. 3 good reasons for a day off.

Beinn Lora. Paths have been recently upgraded to motorway standard. Not sure whether I approve or not but it made for very easy running. Expected to feel dire after last night but it was ok and able to run the hill steady. Light rain but nothing too desperate. Bonus.

Running warm up/down 35:00 [2] 6.3 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross Vario

To start of hills in GT and all the way back down again. E well and truly bonking by the end :-))

Running hills 35:00 [5] 5.0 km (7:00 / km) +270m 5:31 / km
shoes: Salomon Speedcross Vario

Beast of a hill session. 2x4'+2', 2x3'+1', 2x2'+1', 4x1'+1' round the back of Baudy Meg. Really hadn't planned to join in with this, partly because I was still tired from the w/e but had also hoped to get up some hills tomorrow pm. The latter looks unlikely now, given the forecast, so thought I may as well join in the fun. Solidly at the back, but it got better once I had warmed up a bit. Great turn out.
