Running warm up/down 7:00 [2]

Jog to start of training at Sluie

Orienteering 53:00 [3] 5.27 km (10:03 / km) +125m 8:59 / km

Tech training at Sluie. Good session. One mistake at no 3 when I switched off and ran to the break of slope at the top of the hill, before realising the control was half way down the slope. Otherwise spiked everything nice and steady. Not feeling great yet but better than yesterday once I got warmed up. Challenged E to see who had the shortest distance - we ended up within 10m of each other according to our gps.

Running 28:00 [3]

Lap of Dess woods and fields late afternoon. Legs feeling like lead. Hoping it will start to feel better again in a day or two.
Sore head again first thing and runny nose much of the day. Otherwise pretty chilled day up at LoD sitting around in the sun.

Note

Feet feeling fine, but sore head / throat again in the morning... hay-fever season methinks. Plan to get some exercise going again over the w/e.

Thursday May 10, 2018 #

Note

Woke up feeling massively better after sweating out a fever overnight. Feet looking much more normal too. More control hanging / collecting wanderings, even managing a wee jog at Lady Wood. All good until E accidentally stood on one of my big toes....

Note

Feet got really sore again yesterday and are still quite swollen. Not very easy to put them up this week :-(
Cycled a short loop at Dess to hang some controls for Primary festival, then early evening walk round Tyrebagger to hang some for Metro RC session.
Generally feeling very fatigued and didn’t eat terribly well during the day. Sore head and lots of shivers.

Note
(rest day)

Feet felt a lot better this morning and walking downstairs ok, but soon started hobbling again when I walked round to hang a few controls in CC (not helped by kicking a couple of roots / stones!)
Comical.

Running 4:08:00 [2] 21.0 km (11:49 / km) +750m 10:01 / km

GL3D Day 3. Cafe Class.
Cut off times for the Expert class looked challenging and my feet were in no fit state to tackle anything too serious. So with the Wainwright class covering the same ground as I'd finished on the previous day it was an easy decision to drop to the Cafe and have an easy plod back to base. Except it really didn't feel easy. Hurting every step, but blisters eased a bit once we got onto the track down Ennerdale from Black Sail and I was able to shuffle back at a steady 9' km pace.

Great weekend in many ways, spoilt only by shoe / foot problems. Lots to work on before UTMR.
