Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Before the SOL at Glen Nant. Only really got going when I realised I'd forgotten my sweeties and had to leg it back to assembly from the start. Not sure why I rushed as there was meant to be a 20' gap behind me.

Orienteering race 1:36:00 [3]

Glen Nant SOL brown course. A bit too tired to do this area justice. Bad start trying to go through the terrain and down some scary slopes, rather than taking the path option. Then managed to do a 180 out of no 5. Nav got better after that and the terrain got a bit easier for a while too, but my heart wasn't really in it. Lovely spot though.
Good leg icer with E in Loch Etive after.

Running 30:00 [3]

Hoping to bag a munro or two but the weather gods weren't on our side again. Stopped off above Comrie to do a hill session with my wee training buddy instead. 10' jog out to start, then back down the hill again at the end.

Running hills 28:00 [5]

4x5'+2' hills. Steady climb up a good track. E did 1s at the same time.

Note

Potter down Loch Awe later in the car, then a lovely walk round Crinan woods.

(rest day)

Decided a day off would be prudent if I'm to make the most of the w/e

Running 1:15:00 [3] 9.6 km (7:49 / km) +380m 6:31 / km

So the 20' blast last night tipped me over the edge and now the last few days have really caught up with me.
Up in Strathdon, so headed out onto the hills from Glen Nochty with J. Aim was to do a couple of tops with steep climbs up them. Made it to the top of Moss Hill and descended steeply to the SW towards the second hill, but the lure of the track back down the valley was too much for me. Grovelling the last few km.

Running 25:00 [2]

Back out again to hang and collect for ASC in Bellwood. Actually felt much bouncier by the time I was getting the controls in.

Running 35:00 [3]

Hanging controls for schools festival at Dalliefour. Then out to search for the last pair and pick up a few controls at the end. Another successful day. Surprised and well impressed at how many launched themselves straight up the steep hillslope from the start when I'd expected them all to go round the flat bit at the bottom! First cuckoo on Deeside.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Orienteering race 22:00 [5]

Foggieton forest sprint. Ran as hard as I could. Just one small time loss not seeing no 13 behind the green, but well-gubbed by the boy. Legs still feeling pretty good considering the last few days.

Running 2:05:00 [3] 11.6 km (10:47 / km) +750m 8:09 / km

From Auchcallater cp straight up Creag nan Leachda then round the ridge to Creag na Dearcaige, down to Loch Phadruig, up Meall an t-Slugain and all the way down to Glen Callater past Loch Phadruig. Glorious day and just lovely to be out in the hills. Legs feeling weirdly good, although hamstrings a bit tight by the end. Good soak in the Callater Burn at the end.
4 PM

Running 40:00 [3]

Took my time wandering round Morrone birkwood hanging controls for ASC.

Got more running than I needed at the end after two of the kids managed to go straight past a control on a fence corner and disappear into the depths of the birkwood. Ran out backwards on the course, only to spot them in the far distance on the path to the north. Circled back to rest of group to head them back to duck pond, then back out the north path to round up the strays. Then still had to get most of them back across the village, but we were so late that most of the parents had come looking for them. Then back from the school to pick up the remaining controls (had at least retrieved most whilst searching for the kids).

Think I could do with an assistant for the next couple of weeks - you busy Jon???

Stretching 10:00 [1]

Monday May 8, 2017 #

Orienteering 55:00 [3] 7.5 km (7:20 / km) +140m 6:42 / km

From Boddomend up Mortlich via Aboyne Loch, reps on the steep bit to the top, then back by the (v dry) bog / Little Hill route. Legs felt fine once I got warmed up.

Running hills 30:00 [5] 2.0 km (15:00 / km) +400m 7:30 / km

4 x reps from the gate to the top of Mortlich. Managed to run the first 3, but had to race-walk most of the last one. Approx climb times of 6:40, 6:35, 6:35, 7:20
Pleased with that. Planning on hitting the hills as much as pos this week.
