Running warm up/down 5:00 [2]

Token

Orienteering race 45:00 [3]

AUOC 100 control event. Good fun. Key was to keep things as smooth as possible but really hard to hold it together for the full time. Never got much above effort 3 as everything was coming up too quickly and controls were so close that you had to keep checking the codes. Found I first started losing focus after ~20 controls. Couple of times had to stop for ~10s to re-focus and get back in contact. Mostly pretty good until I got utterly confused by nos 98/99 ... turned out the loose descriptions had them in the wrong order. Probably lost best part of 1' here, so hoping to see it removed from results (not that it really matters tbh). Good practice for those that have a habit of mis-punching!

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Must get to this more often. Hammies especially tight.

Note

Good start to a block of quality over quantity this week. Aim to get at least 2 faster sessions + DNC over the next wee while.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Good long w-u before parkrun then shuffle after.

Running race 21:58 [5]

H'head parkrun. Good to get out and set a base time to try and work on over the winter. Happy enough with it. 10m behind E for the whole race until the final sprint when he opened up a good gap. PB for him.

Orienteering 1:27:00 [3]

Gorgeous day doing first test run of 6-day courses at Glen Fearder. Cut across the fields to start which meant a cold dip in the stream followed by rapid solidification of shoes and laces! Particularly enjoyed new map area and took some nice pics.
Soooo nice. Just needs to be 25C warmer next August :-)

Note

Pleasant wander after lunch round Morrone Birkwood while J surveying... this is going to be so cool too :-)
A day to remind me how lucky I am to live in these parts.

Running 34:00 [3]

Steady trot round the fields and woods - hoping this will help loosen me off for night-O

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2]

Short w-u. Feeling cold and just wanted to get going.

Orienteering race 46:00 [5]

DNC #4 Balmedie. For once things worked for me at night. Found the new map much easier to interpret and spiked pretty much everything; just a minor overshoot running past the finish itself :-) Caught MG at 2 then passed him maybe at 4. Back together again heading for 9, then caught AM too and there was a mini choo-choo to try and cling on to. Stayed on top of it and should have won the race to the finish (nipping ahead of MG at 19) if I'd only seen it! Found it so much easier to navigate tonight as I wasn't constantly looking at the ground worrying about where I was putting my feet, although I did lose most of my leg down a rabbit (?) hole near the start.

Running warm up/down 16:00 [2]

Not feeling v recovered yet, but tried to block it out.

Running intervals 24:00 [5]

8 x 2' + 1' on the DW from Dinnet. Felt tough but distances were ok once I got going. Glad of J's company... don't think I'd have stopped off on my way home for lunch otherwise.

Note
(rest day)

Left knee achey overnight. Otherwise feeling not too bad. Wander up Creag Choinnich in the last of the light - everything looking very wintry.
