X-country skiing 1:05:00 [3] 10.3 km (6:19 / km)

Loop round Lugnet from the Hales. Skied to the top then stopped to grill some korv on a fire before whizzing back down the other side. Got a few useful skating tips from StH on the way up the hill.
Feeling pretty tired.

9 AM

X-country skiing 1:10:00 [2] 10.4 km (6:44 / km)

Out before 9:00 on the Fallbaeckbana. Hillier loop than yesterday, but nothing overly technical. Gorgeous morning and only saw 1 other on the trail.
Some really enjoyable skiing here the last couple of days and so much quieter than Norway during school holiday week.
4 PM

Ice skating 50:00 [2] 8.4 km (5:57 / km)

Travelled over to Falun to visit the Hales and found ourselves rapidly equipped with some borrowed skates to head out for a whizz on the lake. First time on skates in >30yrs for me, and with my recent record of falling over in car parks I wasn't totally sure it was wise, but was very much on our list of Scandinavian winter "must dos". To my surprise I managed to stay vertical and could even relax a little once we got going. Such fun :-)))

X-country skiing 2:30:00 [3] 23.7 km (6:20 / km)

LĂ„ngbergets Vasabanen. Mega god langtur. Started out on same track as yesterday before turning into the single-track Vasabanen skidoo trail. Lovely undulating trail winding through the woods and marshes with easy gradients. D'hill on the way out then steady climb coming back. Only saw 3 other skiers on the whole single track route. Also saw a real live mountain hare (not just its tracks). Good steady pace with few stops and E on fire for the last couple of km - couldn't keep up! +4 points overtaking score.
2 PM

X-country skiing 1:00:00 [2] 9.6 km (6:15 / km)

E decided he wanted to go for a daily distance record, so headed out after a big lunch for another lap of the green Toinibanen 10km. On skating skis this time. V tired, but once I got going was able to cruise the flat sections with little effort. E was well pooped and kept falling over, but good humoredly at least. +2 overtaking
Great day's skiing.

10 AM

X-country skiing tempo 45:00 [4] 7.4 km (6:05 / km)

More skate practice on the same section of track at Mattila. Yesterday did it in lots of short bursts, so today was keen to try and string it all together. Managed with only 1 short stop ~5 mins in. Pretty happy with this. Aerobic effort seemed less intensive, hopefully as technique is coming together. Got the sweat going.
2 PM

X-country skiing 1:05:00 [2] 9.8 km (6:38 / km)

Moved up to LĂ„ngberget for a couple of days. Relaxed, steady lap of the 10km green trail. All very organised and trails well pisted and wide, with easy gradients. Just fine for this afternoon.
+ve overtaking score again - enough Danes around these parts :-)

Skate practice at Mattila. Improving slowly.
3 PM

X-country skiing 45:00 [3] 7.9 km (5:42 / km)

Potter out on the tracks towards Juhola with J. Felt pretty tired coming back up the hill. Enough for today - got a few more days to go.

10 AM

X-country skiing 45:00 [3] 6.3 km (7:09 / km)

Skate practice with J. Lungs still finding the effort tough. Great piece of track for practice.
12 PM

X-country skiing 2:45:00 [2] 21.6 km (7:38 / km)

Round the Mattila half mara loop. Lovely quiet tracks and gorgeous semi-open forest with track wending between lakes and marshes. Nice sunny day too.

X-country skiing 1:20:00 [2] 10.2 km (7:51 / km)

Mattila. Round a 6km loop with J and E then an extra loop with J. Found a lovely section of track for skating on with J.
